CELAYA, MEXICO — Industrias Bachoco S.A.B. de C.V. (Bachoco) has reached agreement to acquire, through its OK Foods subsidiary, Albertville, Ala.-based Albertville Quality Foods (AQF), a supplier of value-added protein products to food service, retail and national accounts. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“With this acquisition, we will continue the growing of our U.S. operation, mainly with further processed products,” said Rodolfo Ramos, chief executive officer of Bachoco. “We are confident that we will be able to quickly integrate this company into our current operations and to capitalize the opportunities and synergies we have identified.”

Bachoco expects the acquisition to close in a short time, the company said.

With sales of approximately $270 million per year, AQF operates two facilities totaling 147,000 square feet.

“We currently produce multiple proteins and vegetables on six par fry lines, two IQF lines and two hand sizing operations,” AQF said on its web site. The company specializes in hand-sizing, portioning, marinating, breading and par frying.

Industrias Bachoco is a producer and processor of poultry and other food products. Oklahoma City-based OK Foods, a unit of Bachoco, produces fully-cooked chicken products.
