KANSAS CITY — Breakfast foods are booming on menus, with several restaurants offering new options for the morning meal.

Chick-fil-A’s new a.m. item was designed for consumers seeking a protein-packed breakfast. The chain’s new Hash Brown Scramble features tot-style hash browns, scrambled eggs, a blend of Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese and a choice of sliced Chick-fil-A nuggets or sausage all served with jalapeño salsa. The scramble also may be wrapped in a warm flour tortilla and served as a burrito.

“At Chick-fil-A, we understand the importance of breakfast and want to provide a wide range of options to our guests who are looking for a fast and delicious breakfast,” said Amanda Norris, senior director of menu development for Chick-fil-A. “We’ve definitely seen an increase in popularity for breakfast bowls, and the Hash Brown Scramble combines two fan favorites — our chicken nuggets and hash browns. It is a great fit for those seeking a delicious and hearty breakfast that is also packed with protein.”

Taco Bell is bolstering its breakfast offerings with the new Naked Egg Taco. Created with a shell made entirely of a fried egg, the taco contains crispy potatoes, bacon or sausage and cheese.

Maple is the main ingredient in Dunkin’ Donuts’ new morning offering. The Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich features a double portion of sweet caramelized maple sugar Cherrywood smoked bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant.

Cracker Barrel is launching a new line of breakfast bowls called Southern Bowls in select test markets. The bowls are available in three varieties: Fried Chicken Benedict; Sausage, Grits Cakes N’ Green Tomato Gravy; and Ham N’ Maple Bacon.
