Restaurants are teaming up with movie studios to offer new menu items inspired by the summer's blockbuster films.
Inspired by the movie “Terminator Genisys,” Red Robin is introducing the Genisys Burger. Served on a jalapeño-cornmeal bun, the sandwich features a beef patty topped with roasted jalapeño, pepper-jack cheese, shredded romaine, bacon, tomatoes, and jalapeño aioli.
Denny’s has teamed up with 20th Century Fox to celebrate the “Fantastic Four” movie by releasing its Slamtastic 4 Menu. The lineup consists of The Thing Burger, Human Torch Skillet, Invisible Woman Slam, Fantastic Four-Cheese Omelet, Doom Lava Cake, and Fantastic Four-Fruit Smoothie. The Thing Burger, served on a cheddar bun with a side of wavy-cut fries, features a beef patty topped with hash browns, an egg, cheddar cheese, two bacon strips and a Thing sauce. The Human Torch Skillet includes a breakfast sausage with seasoned red-skinned potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, fire-roasted bell peppers and onions, jalapeños and pico de gallo. The dish is topped with a spicy five pepper sauce, Pepper Jack queso and two eggs. The Invisible Woman Slam consists of two buttermilk blueberry pancakes topped with strawberries, bananas and citrus glaze, two eggs, hash browns and either two bacon strips or two sausage links. The Fantastic Four-Cheese Omelet is stuffed with cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, spinach, diced bacon, onions and mushrooms tossed in a blend of sun-dried tomatoes and herbs. The omelet is topped with diced tomatoes and served with the customer’s choice of bread. The Doom Lava Cake features a warm chocolate cake filled with molten chocolate and topped with mini chocolate and white chocolate chips, powdered sugar, and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The Fantastic Four-Fruit Smoothie is a blend of banana, blueberries, pomegranate, raspberries, nonfat yogurt and juice.
Two American favorites have teamed up to create Pizza Hut’s Hot Dog Bites Pizza. The pizza features 29 mini hot dog bites baked into the crust and is served with a side of French’s mustard. Retailing at $11.99, the pizza-hotdog hybrid is available for a limited time only.
Three new sandwiches are joining Burger King’s lineup: the Extra Long Pulled Pork Sandwich, the A.1. Hearty Mozzarella Cheeseburger, and the BBQ Bacon Tendercrisp. The Extra Long Pulled Pork Sandwich, served on a toasted hoagie bun, features pulled pork covered in barbecue sauce topped with onions and pickles. The A.1. Hearty Mozzarella Cheeseburger includes two quarter pound beef patties, bacon, Mozzarella cheese, lettuce, onions and A.1. Thick & Hearty sauce on a toasted brioche-style bun. Also served on a brioche-style bun, the BBQ Bacon Tendercrisp Sandwich offers a breaded chicken filet topped with barbecue sauce, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise.
Heat is coming to the Dairy Queen menu with the addition of its DQ Bakes! line. The introduction of ovens into the chain has produced three categories of baked foods: Hot Desserts a la Mode, Artisan-style Sandwiches, and Snack Melts. The desserts category includes a Triple Chocolate Brownie, Apple Tart, and Fudge Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie. The sandwich line offers a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich, Chicken Mozzarella sandwich, and a Turkey BLT sandwich. In the Snack Melts division, customers can enjoy a Buffalo Chicken Snack Melt, Chicken Bacon BBQ Snack Melt, and a Chicken Quesadilla Snack Melt.
Culver’s is heating up its menu with the new Crispy Southwest Chicken Sandwich. Served on a toasted ciabatta roll, the sandwich features a fried chicken breast filet topped with habanero pepper jack cheese, jalapeño ranch dressing, shredded lettuce, dill pickles and tomato. The Crispy Southwest Chicken Sandwich costs around $4.99 and will be available through Aug. 30.
Einstein Bros. Bagels has expanded its menu with new Bagel Toppers, toasted bagels with a variety of topping combinations. The toppers are currently available in four varieties. Berry Goodness features strawberry cream cheese, sliced strawberries, granola and a drizzle of honey. The Herbivore offers garlic and herb cream cheese, sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and fresh arugula. The Nutty Monkey with Nutella features Nutella hazelnut spread with cocoa, banana slices and slivered almonds. The Spicy Devil offers jalapeño salsa cream cheese, bacon and sliced jalapeños. Einstein’s new Bagel Toppers are priced at around $3.50.
Schlotzky’s has unveiled its summer menu, featuring the Fresh Kale & Grilled Chicken Salad, Verona Veggie, Chicken Andouille Gumbo, and Cinnabon Wild Berry Topper. The Fresh Kale & Grilled Chicken Salad includes kale, Napa cabbage, diced eggs, dried cranberries, goat cheese, candied pecans, grilled chicken breast and red wine vinaigrette. The Verona Veggie, served on an oven-baked sourdough bun, features kale and Napa cabbage slaw with pepperoncini, olive tapenade, cucumbers, red onions, tomato, and melted cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. The Chicken Andouille Gumbo offers chicken, Andouille sausage and okra blended in a spicy roux-thickened broth with onions, bell peppers, celery, garlic and spicy pepper sauces. The gumbo is topped with sourdough croutons and green onion. The Cinnabon Wild Berry Topper is a spread that combines blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries meant to be paired with the chain’s Cinnabon offerings.
