Bars boasting clean labels, innovative methods and trendy ingredients dominate new product launches.
The Hershey Co. is expanding its Brookside line with new Brookside Yogurt Flavored Fruit & Nut Bars. The gluten-free bars contain no artificial flavors or bioengineered ingredients and are available in three flavors: cranberry blueberry with citrus, vanilla fig and mango pineapple.

Kind Snacks is launching its first fruit bars made with fruit and chia or fruit and vegetables. Pressed by Kind bars contain five ingredients or less, contain no added sugar and provide two full servings of fruit. The bars are dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free and come in five varieties: mango apple chia, pineapple coconut chia, pineapple banana kale spinach, apricot pear carrot beet, and cherry apple chia.

Achieve Superfoods, Inc. is launching into the bar category with its new line of SuperBar snack bars amped up with amaranth. The gluten-free bars are available in apricots and ginger, blueberries and vanilla, cherries and chocolate, and raisins and cinnamon varieties, and contain about 125 calories per bar.
“Compare that to the average 240-calorie snack bar out there,” said Joshua Aisen, founder of Achieve Superfoods. “You’re upgrading on healthy ingredients and cutting out about 5% of your daily calories … which may not seem like a lot, but it adds up to 10 lbs a year in weight loss, even if you don’t change anything else.”

Mondelez International, Inc. is adding to the snackability of its Nabisco Honey Maid brand with new Honey Maid Dipper Graham Snacks. The shorter, stick-shaped graham crackers are designed for dipping and come in both honey and chocolate flavors. Made without high-fructose corn syrup, the crackers provide 8 grams of whole grains per serving.

Applegate Farms, a subsidiary of Hormel Foods, is offering three new organic dinner sausage varieties made with no antibiotics, added hormones, chemical nitrates or nitrites, artificial ingredients or bioengineered ingredients. The Chicken & Cheddar Sausage features chicken, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. The Peach Jerk Sausage offers peaches and Jamaican jerk spices. The Beer Bratwurst Sausage, offering notes of coriander, lemon peel and subtle spices, is hardwood smoked and blended with a Belgian-style wit beer from a local New Jersey brewery, Forgotten Boardwalk.

Diamond Foods, Inc., a subsidiary of Snyder’s-Lance, Inc., is launching a line of Virginia peanuts under its Emerald Nuts brand. The snacks are available in five varieties: Sweet Heat, spicy, honey roasted, roasted and salted, and chocolate glazed.

Dole is reaching out to ranch lovers with its new Dole Country Ranch Salad Kit. The salad features a mix of savory cornbread croutons, white cheddar cheese, Romaine lettuce, carrots, red cabbage and roasted sunflower seeds topped with Dole’s Country Ranch Dressing made with buttermilk.

Go Lite! Snacks, a subsidiary of Herr Foods, Inc., is adding Rosemary & Olive Oil Popcorn to its snack lineup. Seasoned with olive oil, coconut oil and a hint of rosemary, the popcorn contains 45 calories per cup. The snack is gluten free, non-G.M.O. and contains no artificial ingredients or added preservatives.

Heluva Good! and McIlhenny Co. have teamed up to offer limited edition Heluva Good! Dip Flavored with Tabasco brand. The dip combines the peppery punch of Tabasco brand Original Red Sauce with rich sour cream.

Newman’s Own, Inc. is introducing a line of organic pasta sauces. Featuring a blend of organic tomatoes and organic extra virgin olive oil, the sauces are free of gluten, bioengineered ingredients, added sugars, and artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. The marinara variety offers a classic combination of organic tomatoes, garlic, herbs and onions. The tomato and basil option combines organic tomatoes and basil, and the Sockarooni sauce adds peppers and spices to the mix.

Lee Kum Kee is adding two new varieties to its Panda Brand Ready Sauce line. Panda Brand Honey Sesame Chicken Ready Sauce features green and yellow bell peppers, lean chicken breast and sesame seeds. Korean BBQ Stir-Fry Ready Sauce offers a smoky, savory Korean barbecue flavor. Both sauces are cholesterol free and contain no artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.
