The Ferrara Candy Co., a subsidiary of the Ferrero Group, is introducing "the better Butterfinger." It is the first of Nestle USA’s former candy brands to be revamped under new ownership. The company said the new recipe uses an improved roasting process for more peanut flavor and has a richer chocolatey coating with more milk. Additionally, Ferrara Candy Co. said it removed the preservative TBHQ (tertiary butylhydroquinone) and hydrogenated oils from the product, resulting in a "cleaner, shorter ingredient statement." New packaging was designed to improve the product's freshness. The new Butterfinger will be available in January.
Jack Link's Protein Snacks is introducing Jack Link's Steak Bites in original and teriyaki flavors and Jack Link's Smokehouse Beef Sausages in original and hot and spicy varieties. Another new product, Cold Crafted Linkwich, combines salami and Colby Jack, pepper jack or cheddar cheese in a high-protein, breadless sandwich.
A new offering from the Angie's Boomchickapop popcorn brand puts a twist on traditional trail mix. Angie's Boomchickapop Mountain Trail Mix features chocolate-covered popcorn, peanuts, cranberries, almonds and cashews.
The Hershey Co.'s newest confection combines two of its classic brands in one sweet treat. Slated to debut in late November, the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar with Reese's Pieces will be available in standard and king sizes. The product features a milk chocolate bar packed with Reese's Pieces candies.
Following the successful launch of Mike and Ike Mega Mix, Just Born Quality Confections is debuting Mike and Ike Mega Mix Sour. Slated to launch in January, the product features chewy candies in 10 assorted sour fruit flavors. Sour candies continue to surge in popularity, popping up in a number of new confection launches in recent years.
Mars Wrigley Confectionery, a division of Mars, Inc., is introducing Dove Chocolate Bars in six varieties: almond brittle milk chocolate, bourbon vanilla dark chocolate, raspberry rosé dark chocolate, salted caramel blonde chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. "The silky-smooth chocolate fans know and love just took a modern twist," the company said. "The new bars feature flavors inspired by the latest culinary trends."
New ready-to-drink coffee beverages from Nestle USA feature 15 grams of plant protein. Available in banana and mocha varieties, Nescafé Coffee Protein Smoothie contains coffee, oats, almond butter and banana or cocoa. Each 11-oz bottle contains 170 to 180 calories and features the equivalent of one cup of coffee.
Oberto Brands is expanding the Pacific Gold Reserve gourmet meat snacks line with Jerky Trail Mix, Smoked Sausage Sticks and Cracked Peppercorn Turkey Jerky.
Pacific Gold Reserve Jerky Trail Mix varieties include cracked peppercorn turkey jerky with dark chocolate and espresso beans, bourbon glazed beef jerky with cherries and walnuts, and Korean barbecue recipe pork jerky with mango and papaya. The smoked sausage sticks are available in sweet Italian, original smoked recipe and spicy chorizo varieties.
New from Tyson Foods is a line of ready-to-eat Jimmy Dean Protein Packs featuring a hardboiled egg with cubes of cheese and meat or nuts. Varieties include smoked ham with Colby Jack cheese, turkey sausage with Monterey Jack cheese and roasted almonds with white cheddar cheese. Each grab-and-go pack contains 14 to 15 grams of protein.
Launching in January from General Mills, Inc. are Gardetto's Crisps in original and peppercorn ranch flavors. The potato and wheat crisps contain 130 calories and 1 gram of sugar per 22-crisp serving.
PepsiCo is launching Forged By Quaker protein bars, featuring 16 grams of whole grains and 12 grams of protein per serving. Flavors include milk chocolate and peanut butter.
Country Archer Jerky Co. has introduced Mini Original Beef Sticks, made with grass-fed beef. Each stick contains 50 calories and 5 grams of protein.
Lorissa's Kitchen has expanded its line of premium protein snacks with the addition of Herb Roasted Turkey Cuts. The product was developed for consumers seeking to reduce red meat consumption. Each serving contains 80 calories and 1 gram of fat.
