Partnerships and twists on heritage brands bring new products to market.
In February, the Kraft Heinz Co. introduced Just Crack an Egg, a line of breakfast products featuring diced vegetables, Oscar Mayer meat, Kraft shredded cheese and Ore-Ida potatoes. The products are packaged in individual serving cups that may be prepared in less than two minutes; consumers stir in an egg and microwave to create a portable morning meal with 15 grams of protein.
Varieties include Denver, featuring ham, mild cheddar cheese, onions, green peppers and diced potatoes; All American, with uncured bacon, sharp cheddar cheese and diced potatoes; Ultimate, including sausage, mild cheddar cheese, onions, green and red peppers and diced potatoes; and Rustic, combining turkey sausage, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, onions, red peppers and diced potatoes.
At Natural Products Expo West in March, Kraft Heinz unveiled its newly reformulated and rebranded Boca Burger, designed to tap into the growing plant-based foods movement
New Boca products have been reformulated for improved taste and texture and a clean packaging design. To create the new recipes, the company worked with suppliers to improve the texture of the soy.
In April, Kraft Heinz joined forces with Food Network to launch Food Network Kitchen Inspirations, a new line of globally inspired salad dressings, cooking sauces and meal kits.
Food Network Kitchen Inspirations salad dressings are available in eight varieties: Italian Herb & Garlic, French Style Dijon Balsamic, Creamy Parmesan Caesar, Greek Feta Herb Vinaigrette, Cuban Style Orange Citrus, Mexican Style Cilantro Lime, Mexican Style Mango Chipotle and Asian Style Sesame Ginger.
Cooking sauces in the lineup include Japanese Style Teriyaki, Jamaican Style Jerk, Tuscan Style Herb & Balsamic, Thai Style Sweet & Spicy Chili and Korean Gochujang.
The Food Network Kitchen Inspirations meal kits come in five varieties: Tuscan-Style Mushroom Risotto, Chicken Pad Thai, Shrimp Scampi, Spicy Szechuan-Style Chicken & Rice and Chicken Tikka Masala.
Kraft Heinz expanded its Devour frozen meal portfolio in April with a new line of sandwiches.
The Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese variety features grilled chicken, sharp cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and buffalo sauce between two slices of toasted bread.
The Sweet & Smoky Pork Grilled Cheese features pork, Monterey jack cheese, cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños and a sweet and smoky sauce.
The Philly Cheesesteak Grilled Cheese features Angus beef, fire-roasted green peppers, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese and provolone cheese.
The Turkey, Bacon and Ranch varieties features slices of turkey, bacon and ranch sauce.
“A toy you can eat” is how Kraft Heinz described its late June product launch. Jell-O Play recasts the 121-year-old dessert brand in a line of interactive kits that include plastic molds, edible stickers or cookie cutters in various shapes. Jell-O Play products are priced under $5 and began launching in retail stores nationwide throughout the summer.
Available in ocean, jungle and construction themes, the Jell-O Play Build & Eat Kit contains plastic molds that transform gelatin into building blocks. Jell-O Play Cutters Kits include gelatin mixes and cookie cutters featuring shapes of animals, dinosaurs and more. Jell-O Play with Edible Stickers features instant pudding mix in chocolate “edible mud” and vanilla “edible sand” varieties.
In July, Kraft Heinz launched a line of Lunchables inspired by global cuisine called Lunchables Around the World.
The Mexican Style Chicken Tacos meal contains Oscar Mayer breaded white meat chicken poppers, mini flour tortillas, Kraft shredded cheese and churro cookies.
The Italian Style Chicken kit contains Oscar Mayer white meat breaded chicken nuggets, Kraft mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce and chocolate candies in the colors of Italy’s flag.
The Asian Style BBQ Chicken Lunchables features Oscar Mayer white meat breaded chicken nuggets, Asian style barbecue dipping sauce and a Meiji Hello Panda Chocolate, which features chocolate crème in a crunchy shell.
