Food and beverage manufacturers launch new plant-based milk, yogurt, frozen desserts and more.
Danone North America’s So Delicious Dairy Free brand is launching a new line of Oatmilk Yogurt Alternatives made with gluten-free oats along with live and active cultures.
The dairy-free yogurts come in four flavors: triple berry; spiced pear and fig; strawberry rhubarb; and sweet mango. Each flavor is nut-free, soy-free, certified vegan, certified gluten-free and Non-GMO Project verified.
Elmhurst 1925 is growing its Barista Editions portfolio with the new Hemp Barista Edition. Made with six ingredients, including hemp cream and whole grain oats, the plant-based product may be used for foaming, frothing and steaming in coffee beverages, Elmhurst said.
The company also is expanding its Hemp Creamer line with three new flavors: French vanilla, hazelnut and golden milk. Joining the original unsweetened variety, the new Hemp Creamer flavors contain 350 mg of omega-3 ALA per serving and one gram of sugar. Elmhurst Hemp Creamers are vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, OU kosher and Non-GMO Project verified.
The new products are made through a HydroRelease method that uses water to separate the component of a nut, grain or seed before reassembling them as a creamy, beverage-ready emulsion that maintains the full nutrition of the source ingredient without added gums or emulsifiers, Elmhurst said. Elmhurst Hemp Creamers are made with five ingredients: hemp seeds, filtered water, cane sugar, dipotassium phosphate and natural flavors.
Organic dairy product manufacturer Stonyfield Organic is diving deeper into the dairy-free segment with new Fruit & Veggie Smoothie Pouches. The plant-based products are made with coconut cream and contain six simple ingredients each. Containing 50 to 70 calories per pouch, the smoothies contain no added sugar and are U.S.D.A. certified organic, Non-GMO Project verified and vegan. Varieties include Berry Cherry Blast, made with blueberries, cherries, apples and beets; Tropical Twist, made with mangos, bananas, pears and carrots; and Strawbana Smash, made with strawberries, bananas, pears and sweet potatoes.
Plant-based lattes are joining the High Brew Coffee family. Made with cold brewed Direct Trade Arabica coffee beans and a blend of coconut and cashew milk, the dairy-free latte options contain nine grams of sugar and come in three flavors: Bourbon Vanilla, Toasted Coconut and Smoked Butterscotch.
Dean Foods Co. is bringing new life to Steve’s Ice Cream, a brand it acquired in 2017. Along with a new visual identity and campaign, the brand is launching four new dairy-free frozen dessert varieties.

Blue Diamond is branching into the non-dairy yogurt alternative category with the launch of Almond Breeze Almondmilk Yogurt Alternative. The plant-based product is available on its own or paired with toppings.
The plain yogurt alternative is available in 24-oz tubs in original and vanilla varieties. It also comes in 5.3-oz single-serve containers that pair vanilla-flavored Almond Breeze Almondmilk Yogurt Alternative with various toppings, including toasted almonds; honey roasted almonds and granola; chocolate almonds and chocolate chips; coconut almonds and chocolate chips; blueberry almonds and oat clusters; and sea salt caramel and pretzel.
Coolhaus is debuting its dairy-free line of frozen desserts and frozen dessert cookie sandwiches. Made with a base of organic cocoa butter, pea protein and organic whole grain brown rice, the desserts are sweetened with cane sugar and contain equal partner chocolate chunks and chips.
The dairy-free pint flavors include Salted Caramel Crunch, Dirty Mint Chip, Cookie Dough Lyfe, Chocolate Campfire S’Mores, Peanut Butter Fudge Chip, Chocolate Sandwich Cookie Crumb, and Mocha Marcona Almond Fudge.
