Creepy candies, spooky sweets and frightful flavors debut in both food service and retail channels.
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is debuting the Monster Batch, a collection of Halloween-themed donuts.
Slimon the Slime Monster Doughnut is an original glazed donut with lemon slime filling that is dipped in green icing with a green crème dollop and candy eyeball.
Mumford the Mummy Monster Doughnut is an original glazed donut dipped in white icing and decorated with purple icing drizzle to look like a wrapped mummy complete with candy eye and mouth decorations.
Hypno-Henry the Cake Batter Monster is a donut filled with cake batter that is dipped in yellow icing and orange sanding sugar then topped with a white icing swirl, a candy eyeball and a candy mouth.
New for Halloween from the Skittles brand comes Zombie Skittles, featuring a mix of five fruity flavors: Petrifying Citrus Punch, Mummified Melon, Boogeyman Blackberry, Chilling Black Cherry, and Blood Red Berry. However, a few pieces in the pack feature a hidden “rotten zombie” flavor.
“Our fans love Skittles, not just for its delicious fruity flavors, but for the irreverence and sense of humor for which the brand is known,” said Rebecca Duke, senior brand manager of Skittles for Mars Wrigley U.S. “This Halloween, we wanted to give our fans the ultimate rotten twist on the candy they know and love, challenging them to test their bravery over a bag of Zombie Skittles.”
Baskin-Robbins is dishing out the new Fright Night Scoop, featuring a scoop of Candy Mashup ice cream — which is chocolate-flavored ice cream with Snickers, caramel cup pieces and a salted caramel ribbon — topped with a mix of Halloween sprinkles and a white chocolate zombie hand.
“October is all about being creative and getting into the Halloween spirit, and our fun and festive lineup this month reflects that attitude,” said Jason Maceda, senior vice-president of Baskin-Robbins U.S. and Canada. “We’ve released some fantastic treats like the Fright Night Scoop to help Halloween fanatics and ice cream lovers take in all of those ghostly good feels, and our Candy Mashup Flavor of the Month combines guests’ favorite candy flavors into one treat that’s perfect for a Halloween party.”
Ferrara Candy Co. keyed in on candy corn for Halloween this year with the debut of five new candy corn offerings.
New Trolli Sour Brite Candy Corn combines the Trolli brand’s signature dual-colors and flavors with candy corn’s shape and texture. The sour flavor combinations include lemon and cherry, orange and lime, and grape and strawberry.
From Ferrara’s Brach’s brand come four new candy corn treats: Mini Candy Corn & Chocolate Peanuts, a sweet and salty mix of classic candy corn and milk chocolate-dipped sea-salted peanuts; Pumpkin Pie Candy Corn; and Donut Shoppe Candy Corn, featuring flavors such as strawberry glaze, chocolate glaze and original glaze; and Mermaid Candy Corn, featuring a variety of themed shapes, including mermaids, seashells and hearts, in a mix of flavors such as strawberry, lemon, green apple, grape, raspberry and orange.
“Nobody loves Halloween like Ferrara does, and as the category leader in Halloween sugar confections and across all seasons, we’re excited to share the classics and more,” said Mariah Havens, senior brand manager of seasonal marketing for Ferrara. “Our No. 1 product of the season is one of America’s favorite Halloween candies — candy corn. IHOP Restaurants is getting in the spooky spirit of the Halloween holiday with a new limited-time menu inspired by the upcoming release of The Addams Family animated film.
Wednesday’s Web-Cakes are buttermilk pancakes topped with cupcake icing webbed with Hershey’s chocolate syrup and finished with violet whipped topping.
Gomez’s Green Chili Omelette features marinated pulled pork, jack and cheddar cheeses, fire-roasted peppers and onions, and green chili verde sauce topped with sour cream.
Uncle Fester’s Chocolate Ice Scream Shake is a Hershey’s chocolate ice cream shake with violet whipped topping.
Morticia’s Haunted Hot Chocolate is toasted marshmallow hot chocolate topped with violet whipped topping and a drizzle of Hershey’s chocolate syrup.
“We wanted to take our most quintessential menu items, such as our buttermilk pancakes, omelettes and milkshakes, and put a signature Addams Family twist on them,” said Alisa Gmelich, vice-president of marketing for IHOP. “The menu items are so good it’s scary. Our culinary team had a lot of fun playing around with distinctive flavors and eye-catching colors to create a menu that will be delightfully spooky and delicious for families of all ages, including grown-up kids, all month long.”
