Restaurant brands ring in spring with cold coffee beverages.
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar is adding sugar dusted donut dippers to its dessert menu. The new item is described as pillows of fried dough tossed in powdered sugar and served with caramel and hot fudge dipping sauces.
“We love giving our guests a reason to enjoy coming together with friends and loved ones at our restaurants,” said Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer at Applebee’s. “And we’re always looking to innovate and bring delicious and fun items to our menu. With this latest addition to our already delicious lineup of desserts, Sugar Dusted Donut Dippers are doing just that.”
Noodles & Co. is testing Panko Chicken made by Impossible Foods in select markets. The plant-based protein option may be added to any dish and is featured in the Impossible Orange Chicken Lo Mein entree. Previously, the fast-casual chain unveiled lower-carb noodle offerings, and “adding a delicious plant-based protein option to our menu was the clear next move to explore," said Nick Graff, executive chef and vice president of culinary.
“When selecting a partner to test our first-ever plant-based protein, Impossible Foods was an easy choice,” Mr. Graff said. “Like Noodles, Impossible believe that the future starts with your plate, and we're moving forward change one meal at a time.”
Burger King is launching Whopper Melts sandwiches, which have two slices of toasted bread, two flame-grilled beef patties, caramelized onions and American cheese. The Spicy Whopper Melt adds jalapeños and a creamy, spicy sauce, and the Bacon Whopper Melt includes bacon.
Taco Bell has expanded its breakfast menu. The new Cinnabon Delights Coffee is made with coffee, blended with cream and has a Cinnabon cinnamon flavor. Another new beverage is the Cherry Sunrise Freeze, which swirls wild cherry, pineapple and orange flavors.
Fuddruckers Restaurants has partnered with Beyond Meat, Good Planet Foods, Meatless Farm and Hooray Foods to debut a menu of plant-based offerings at participating locations. Items include the Beyond Burger, Beyond Chicken Tenders, Beyond Sausage Sweet Italian, Beyond Sausage Hot Italian, Meatless Chicken Cutlet and Good Planet Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Customers may select plant-based toppings such as a bacon alternative developed by Hooray Foods and American, pepper jack and provolone cheese alternatives created by Good Planet Foods.

Limited-time beverages at Tim Hortons include the Irish cream cold brew and Irish cream iced latte.
Take-and-bake pizza concept Papa Murphy’s has added a Buffalo ranch chicken pizza, topped with grilled chicken, bacon, onions, mozzarella and a drizzle of Buffalo ranch sauce.
New at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is a burnt caramel cold brew latte, which has a toasted caramel flavor and joins a menu of additional cold brew coffee drinks.
Starbucks Corp. has added another non-dairy coffee beverage to its lineup. The new Iced Toasted Vanilla Oatmilk Shaken Espresso combines Starbucks Blonde espresso with notes of caramelized vanilla and oat milk. The beverage joins the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and the Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso on the permanent menu nationwide.
