Manufacturers are focusing on convenient snack innovations.
Sports nutrition company MET-Rx is expanding its Big 100 product portfolio with a line of granola bars. The bars include 28 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per serving, with flavors like chocolate chip and peanut butter chip. The company also is adding blueberry cobbler and mint super cookie crunch flavors to its meal replacement bar line.
Kellanova has partnered with Two Rivers Coffee Co. to create Eggo branded coffee. The product combines the flavor notes of toasted Eggo waffles and aromatic coffee, according to the company, in a convenient to prepare coffee pod format compatible with Keurig brewing systems. Flavor varieties include blueberry Eggo coffee, chocolate chip Eggo coffee, cinnamon toast Eggo coffee, maple syrup Eggo coffee and vanilla Eggo coffee.
“Inspired by classic Eggo waffle flavors and the flair for flavor innovation at Two Rivers Coffee, each cup infuses a unique flavor that pairs perfectly with your favorite breakfast,” said Sam Blaney, director of marketing for Two Rivers Coffee.
Goodles, a maker of better-for-you macaroni and cheese products, has launched a deluxe macaroni and cheese line. The pasta varieties offer a low glycemic index and 16 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber per serving, according to the company. Flavors include ched over heels, a cheddar cheese macaroni and cheese, and shell we dance, an aged white cheddar sauce over shell pasta.
“Our new ‘deluxe’ style mac and cheeses have all the yummy creamy cheesy feels and have an added bonus — milk or butter not required, making it easier than ever,” said Molly Michet, chief product officer at Goodles.
SkinnyDipped has added a line of nut-based products to its better-for-you snack portfolio. The lower-sugar Sweet + Salty line features varieties like maple crunch almonds, vanilla crunch almonds and cinnamon crunch cashews.
Plant-based dairy manufacturer Elmhurst 1925 is entering the plant-based meat category with TerraMeat Plant-Based Chick’n. The product offers 26 grams of protein and is formulated from hemp protein. Elmhurst said it used its HydroRelease method to create the chicken alternative, which involves starting with hemp grain and using water to release its protein into a digestible and functional powder.
TerraMeat comes in a dry powder format, which is then blended into water, mixed with an oil and spice blend and then heated in the microwave. Once heated, consumers may grill, bake, braise or fry the product, according to the company.
“With the launch of Elmhurst 1925 TerraMeat Plant-Based Chick’n, we are bringing the same innovation and commitment to quality that we brought to plant-based dairy,” said Henry Schwartz, chief executive officer of Elmhurst 1925. “Consumers are increasingly seeking simple ingredients and clean label alternatives to the ultra-processed options on the market.”
Uncle Matt’s Organic is adding ginger honey lemonade to its roster of organic beverages. The product will blend organic lemons, Brazilian wildflower honey and Peruvian ginger, according to the company. The beverage has 40 calories and 4 grams of sugar per 8-oz serving,

Hostess is bringing back its fall flavor offerings with the return of Pumpkin Spice Twinkies, Iced Pumpkin CupCakes and Maple Glazed Donettes. The company also is releasing Halloween-inspired FrankenCakes, Spooky Twinkies and ScaryCakes, which are slated to roll out starting next month.
