Cracker manufacturers are innovating with flavor and format mashups.
Cheez-It has partnered with Hidden Valley Ranch to launch Cheez-It x Hidden Valley Ranch Crackers. The limited-time product combines the taste of cheese with the taste of Hidden Valley Ranch, Kellanova said. The launch follows the earlier release of the Cheez-It and Hidden Valley Ranch co-developed condiment Cheezy Ranch.
“Creating the perfect snack for Hidden Valley Ranch and Cheez-It fans just made sense as the next step in the collaboration,” said CC Ciafone, marketing director at Hidden Valley Ranch.
Campbell Soup Co. subsidiary Pepperidge Farm debuted spicy dill pickle-flavored Goldfish crackers. The product combines dill pickle flavor notes, red chili peppers and the traditional Goldfish cracker format.
7 Mile Brands has launched Pretzelized, a snack brand focused on merging other traditional snack formats with pretzels. The company added a line of pretzel crackers under the brand, featuring a pretzel shell on a bite-size cracker, with flavors such as sea salt, cheddar and honey mustard.
Kellanova launched Cheez-It Extra Crunchy, a cracker innovation aimed at consumers who are looking for even crunchier snack options. The product is available in two flavor varieties: bold cheddar and sharp white cheddar.
“Our fans trust us to deliver a classically crunchy taste with all of our crackers, but we wanted to turn up the volume with Cheez-It Extra Crunchy,” said Cara Tragseiler, senior brand director for Cheez-It. “With a generous sprinkle of seasoning and a multisensory crunch, these two new products will deliver on fan demand for an even louder, flavorful way to snack on their favorite crackers.”
Every Body Eat has added grain-free crispbread crackers to its cracker line. The crispbread crackers are free from the top 14 allergens and corn and also are gluten-free, grain-free, vegan and non-GMO. Flavors include sea salt, white pepper garlic and cranberry.
“Our new crispbread crackers provide a sophisticated charcuterie option and a unique grain-free choice,” said Trish Thomas, co-founder of Every Body Eat.
Kellanova and condiment brand Mike’s Hot Honey unveiled a limited-edition Club Crisps cracker flavor. Club Crisps flavored with Mike’s Hot Honey is aimed at consumers interested in the “swicy” flavor trend and joins the existing Club Crisps lineup of sea salt, ranch, sour cream and onion and sweet and salty flavors.
“We’re always eager to learn what our fans’ new flavor obsessions are so that we can create a fun and unique snacking experience,” said Carrie Foose, director of brand marketing for Kellanova Crackers. “Working with Mike’s Hot Honey to create this sweet and spicy new crisp for the ever-growing spicy snacker segment is an exciting first-of-its-kind innovation for Club Crisps.”
