Product launches include offerings centered on protein and clean label ingredients.
Nasoya debuted Plantspired Plant-Based Chick’n, a meat alternative derived from textured vegetable and soy proteins. The pre-cut, pre-seasoned bits contain 22 grams of protein and 3.5 grams of total fat per serving. The launch includes two Asian-inspired flavors: Kung Pao and Bee-Free Honey Garlic.
Plant-based Mexican foodservice brand Tacotarian entered the retail channel with a line of shelf-stable taco fillings. The Tacotarian at Home product lineup aims to deliver a restaurant-quality experience for health-conscious home cooks seeking sustainable, and globally inspired flavors.
Varieties at launch include jackfruit-based barbacoa filling and birria filling made with jackfruit and Beyond Meat’s plant-based ground beef alternative. Each flavor contains 300 or less calories per 0.5-cup serving and is ready to serve after heating in a skillet, microwave or air fryer.
“We are elated to meet people where they are and present them with a retail line that allows them access to our plant-based offerings regardless of location,” said Kristen Corral, co-founder of Tacotarian & Tacotarian at Home.
Franklin Farms is adding pineapple teriyaki balls to its portfolio of plant-based offerings. The product is formulated with pineapple, onion, carrot, red and green peppers and tamari sauce, according to the company. Each serving features 12 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and is cholesterol-free.
“Asian and island flavors are trending as consumers seek out new cuisines and flavor experiences from around the world,” said Aaron Stamp, chief executive officer of Franklin Farms. “This new addition delivers a bright and balanced flavor, featuring teriyaki and sweet notes of pineapple to provide shoppers with a delicious, nutritious plant-based protein option that is made with real vegetables.”
Beyond Meat added the Beyond Sun Sausages line, featuring plant-based sun sausage alternatives in Cajun, pesto and pineapple jalapeño flavors. The product is formulated from vegetables, fruits and legumes such as spinach, bell peppers, yellow peas, brown rice, red lentils and fava beans. Each sausage features 12 grams of protein per link, with less than 1 gram of saturated fat per serving and no cholesterol, according to the company.
Daring launched a line of frozen entrees featuring its plant-based chicken. The meals are aimed at health-conscious consumers seeking convenient and easy plant protein options. Daring’s gluten-free entrees contain 16 grams of protein, between 350 to 460 calories and are ready to serve after less than four minutes in the microwave.
Varieties include the spicy fajita plant chicken bowl, the teriyaki plant chicken bowl, the harvest plant chicken bowl and the penne primavera bowl.
“Our latest frozen entree bowls represent a significant step forward in redefining plant-based cuisine while staying true to our commitment to authenticity and simplicity,” said Ross Mackay, founder and chief executive officer of Daring.
Frozen food manufacturer Amy’s Kitchen branched into the breakfast category with a line of burritos, wraps and entrees. The frozen products are formulated free from meat, seafood, peanuts and eggs, using tofu as an egg replacer. Offerings in the line include California scramble, Mexican scramble and tofu scramble entrees, each with 20 grams or more of protein; a scramble wrap and a gluten- and dairy-free tofu scramble wrap; and a ranchero burrito.
“We’re making it easier for families to start their day with a wholesome, delicious breakfast made from real, organic ingredients,” said Fred Scarpulla, chief culinary officer at Amy’s Kitchen. “Our new frozen breakfast line delivers convenience, but with the homemade taste you’d expect from your own kitchen.”
Beyond Meat debuted the fourth generation of Beyond Sausage as part of its Beyond IV product line. The reformulated Beyond Sausage is designed to offer enhanced flavor and a meatier texture, according to the company. The product is made with avocado oil, offers reduced saturated fat by 66% versus its previous Beyond Sausage and features 17 grams of protein per serving. Flavors include Beyond Sausage brat original and hot Italian.
Juicy Marbles has expanded its portfolio of plant-based, whole-cut meat alternatives with Baby Ribs with edible bones. The clean label ribs feature 32 grams of protein per serving, no thickeners or binders and a variety of vitamins and minerals.
Additionally, the plant-based rib bones may be baked, fried or air-fried into puffed, crispy snacks once consumers have finished consuming the ribs, according to the company.
