Plant-based beverage innovation is accelerating.
Silk, a Danone North American brand, is introducing a plant-based milk formulated specifically for children ages five and up. The beverage blends oats and peas and offers 8 grams of protein per serving, according to the company. Available in a 59-oz carton, the product is available in select stores and will receive a nationwide roll out in 2025.
“Delivering on both taste and nutrition is imperative, especially when it comes to nourishing kids,” said Kristie Leigh, registered dietitian and director of nutrition and scientific affairs at Danone North America. “That’s why we developed Silk Kids — to provide targeted nutrition kids need in a plant-based beverage they'll love, because mealtime shouldn't be a struggle.”
Blue Diamond Growers is offering a limited-edition flavor of almonds just in time for the holiday season. The frosted brownie flavored almonds are covered with a blend of chocolate and frosting. The product is available until December and may be purchased in 6-oz cans for $4.29 in major retailers and on Amazon.
“We like to consistently test different flavor innovations, especially around the holidays, to expand our product portfolio based on what we know consumers are craving,” said Maya Erwin, vice president of marketing and innovation at Blue Diamond. “Chocolate and the holidays go hand in hand, so we created frosted brownie to lean into this seasonal flavor, allowing snacks to enjoy the rich and creamy indulgence of a brownie, all with the crunch of an almond.”
Hodo, a plant-based food company, is adding a line of tofu entrees to its line. Available in Thai red curry, Japanese teriyaki and Korean BBQ, the product offers 17 grams of protein per serving, according to the company.
“We encourage omnivores, flexitarians, vegetarians and even meat lovers to add these yummy and easy tofu entrees to their everyday meals,” said Minh Tsai, Hodo founder and chief executive officer.
Plant-based beverage company Whole Moon is launching a line of flavored protein beverages. The beverages are available in oat, almond and pistachio flavors and may be purchased for $5.79 per 42-oz bottle at Shoprite, Fairway, Central Markets, Key Foods and C-Town stores.
Chosen Foods, a manufacturer of avocado-based products, has introduced avocado oil shortening. Fractionated avocado oil is the only ingredient in the product, according to the company, taken from leftover avocadoes from the company’s avocado oil-making process. The product is available at Target and at chosenfoods.com in 16-oz tubs.

Chicken of the Sea is launching a customizable on-the-go snack pack. The product offers white tuna salad and pink salmon salad options. White tuna contains 19 grams of protein and includes albacore tuna, dried cranberries, light mayonnaise, four crackers a mixing tray and a serving spoon. Pink salmon offers 18 grams of protein and includes pink salmon, Dijon mustard, light mayonnaise, four crackers, a mixing tray and a serving spoon.

J&J Snack Foods is debuting a line of frozen soft pretzels. Brauhaus pretzels are formulated with sourdough bread and are available in 4-count packs that feature an everything bagel topping packet. The product may be purchased for $6.99 a pack at Price Chopper and Meijer stores.
“Brauhaus Pretzel is J&J’s leading soft pretzel brand in foodservice channels, and we’re beyond excited to offer this hand-crafted, premium product I the freezer aisle for consumers to easily serve at home,” said Joanne Mizner, vice president of marketing – retail at J&J Snack Foods.
Bumble Bee Seafoods is adding 11 products.
Wild-Caught Solid White Albacore Tuna in Water is the brand’s first flavored albacore pouch, according to the company, and is offered in 2.5-oz pouches in a lemon and garlic flavor. Everything Bagel Seasoning Tuna Salad includes tuna and crackers with everything bagel seasoning. Low-Sodium Albacore Solid White Tuna in Water is available in a 2.5-oz pouch, a 5-oz can 4-pack and a 12-oz can. Wild-Caught Pink-Salmon, Skinless and Boneless is available in a 2.5-oz pouch and includes 5 oz of pink salmon. Wild-Caught Sardines are offered in a 3.75-oz can and is available in sardines in oil, sardines in water, Louisiana hot sauce and mustard sauce. Prime Wild-Caught Tiny Shrimp is purchasable in a 4-oz tin.

Danone North America subsidiary STōK Cold Brew Coffee is releasing a line of cold brew energy coffee. The beverage blends coffee, caffeine, B-vitamins, ginseng and guarana, according to the company, and contains 195 mgs of caffeine. Mocha cream, vanilla cream and caramel cream flavors are offered. Available in 11-oz cans, the product can be purchased at 7-Eleven and Speedway stores.

Krusteaz is innovating the baking industry with the launch of Krusteaz Batters, a refrigerated pour and bake batter pack. The batter is offered in chocolate brownie, vanilla cupcake and chocolate cupcake options and is available at Kroger and Walmart for $6.99.
