Co-developed menu items are in the spotlight.
Taco Bell, a Yum! Brands company, has debuted a churro innovation developed in partnership with Milk Bar. The Milk Bar Birthday Cake Churros feature birthday cake frosting filling and pink confetti sprinkles.
“This treat has all the iconic birthday cake spirit (and flavor), deliciously and uniquely delivered in crispy churro form,” said Christina Tosi, founder of Milk Bar.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. has launched its spring menu items. The seasonal offerings include Oreo stuffed cheesecake pancakes, which combines Cracker Barrel’s pancake recipe and cheesecake filling with a topping of Oreo cookie pieces.
Also featured in the spring menu are the Louisiana-style shrimp skillet, shrimp and grits, strawberry icebox pie, strawberry peach lemonade and spritzer, and a pancake latte.
“Our spring menu lineup is just as bold and savory as it is sweet and indulgent," said Sarah Moore, chief marketing officer for Cracker Barrel. "Our new Creole shrimp skillets appease guests with an appetite for fresh flavors and zest this season.”
The Wendy’s Co. has launched a limited-time frosty item inspired by Girl Scout cookies. The Thin Mints Frosty was created in partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA, mixing a chocolate or vanilla frosty base with minty cookie crumble sauce swirls.
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar is expanding its Bourbon Street Favorites menu with two New Orleans-inspired pasta dishes. The Bourbon Street chicken and andouille sausage penne features Bourbon Street chicken, seared andouille sausage slices, seasoned bell peppers, onions, a Cajun alfredo sauce and penne pasta. The blackened shrimp and andouille sausage penne comes with sauteed blackened shrimp, seared andouille sausage slices, seasoned bell peppers, onions and the Cajun alfredo sauce on a bed of penne pasta.
“Packed with bold, New Orleans-inspired flavors and two proteins, our new savory Bourbon Street pastas will transport you straight to the heart of the French Quarter,” said Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer at Applebee’s.
Jack in the Box is continuing to build off the success of its smashed burger offerings with the Big Smashed Jack. The burger features two quarter-pound smashed patties, American cheese, shredded lettuce, onions, pickles, Jack’s Boss sauce and a triple brioche bun.
Krispy Kreme has unveiled the Krispy Kreme x Hulu: Movie Snacks Doughnuts collection.
The collaboration features four donuts, including the blue raspberry slush donut, a glazed donut dipped in blue raspberry flavored icing and blue sanding sugar; the caramel popcorn donut, an unglazed donut with caramel popcorn-flavored crème filling, white icing and a topping of caramel popcorn and red icing drizzles; the cookie dough superstar donut, an unglazed donut with chocolate buttercream-flavored filling dipped in chocolate icing and topped with sprinkles and cookie dough bites; and the candy double feature donut, a glazed donut with white icing that is topped with milk chocolate candy pieces and mini milk chocolate chips.
Product innovations were on full display at the March trade show.
New items include sweet heat chicken products and tropical-inspired beverages.
