
Permanent menu additions and limited-time items make their debut.
McDonald’s Corp. has renewed its efforts to bring chicken strips permanently to its US menu with the launch of McCrispy Strips. The product, which features 100% white meat, breading and black pepper flavor, previously debuted as Buttermilk Crispy Tenders but was halted in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Krispy Kreme has expanded its selection of limited-time offerings with its Craving Cheesecake Collection.
Combining the donut format with cheesecake flavors, the collection includes: the Strawberry Dream Cheesecake donut, an unglazed shell donut filled with cheesecake-flavored cream, dipped in strawberry-flavored icing and berry-flavored graham crunch, and then drizzled in white icing; the Cookies & Kreme Cheesecake donut, an unglazed shell donut filled with cookies-and-cream cheesecake-flavored filling that is then dipped in white icing, half-dipped in chocolate cookie crumble and dusted with powdered topping; and the Caramel Delight Cheesecake donut, a cinnamon sugar-ring donut topped with cheesecake-flavored buttercream and salted caramel-flavored graham crunch and drizzled with caramel-flavored icing.
Yum! Brands subsidiary KFC has debuted strawberry and crème pie poppers. The dessert offerings feature flaky crust and a filling of strawberries and cream in a bite-size format.
Hardee’s, a CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. brand, has unveiled its summer menu expansion. The seasonal offerings include the homestyle breakfast burrito, featuring sausage, eggs and cheese in a flour tortilla, and blueberry biscuits. Beverage additions include peach tea, peach lemonade and peach milkshakes.
“Our new summer menu items represent our continued commitment to the culinary innovation and quality our guests are hungry for,” said Sarah Breymaier, vice president of brand marketing at Hardee’s. “We’ve focused on creating products that taste amazing and also showcase our dedication to using premium ingredients and flavors.”
Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has unveiled the barbecue brisket steakburger. The item features sliced brisket that is pit-smoked for 16 hours, along with two steakburger patties, American cheese, pickles, onion, barbecue sauce and a King's Hawaiian bun.
Zaxbys is leaning into larger-sized applications with the launch of its giant quesadillas. The product contains three Zaxbys signature chicken strips, Cheddar Jack cheese and other toppings encased in a flour tortilla. Varieties include a chicken bacon ranch quesadilla and a chicken fajita quesadilla.
“Our new giant quesadillas are a perfect example of how we can bring a bigger and more craveable twist to an already popular food item,” said Patrick Schwing, chief marketing officer at Zaxbys. “With premium ingredients, our beloved signature sauces, and three of our famous Chicken Fingerz in each quesadilla, we’re serving up a giant quesadilla experience that rivals any out there.”
Taco Cabana has launched the chicken bacon ranch taco ahead of Cinco de Mayo. The limited-time offering includes ingredients like fajita chicken, bacon, pickled jalapeños, lettuce, tomato and ranch.
Bonefish Grill has launched the “Chef-Curated Selections” menu. Offerings include margarita sea bass, bourbon glazed salmon, pan-seared ahi tuna, horseradish butter-topped filet mignon and tomato shrimp linguine.
