The snack bar format is an increasing focus for product innovation.
Kind LLC subsidiary Nature’s Bakery has added a line of soft-baked snacks with Hearty Bars. The bars are formulated from whole grains, fruit and Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa, with each serving 9 grams of plant-based protein. Flavor varieties include blueberry and chocolate chip.
Throne Sports Coffee has unveiled a ready-to-drink coffee line. The company’s premium charged lattes offer 150 mg of natural caffeine per serving, along with 10 grams of protein and its Coffee Plus+ formula, which contains 100% daily value of vitamins B2, B3, B6 and B12. The lattes are available in such flavors as mocha java, french vanilla, salted caramel and coffee latte.
“Our goal was to rethink ready-to-drink coffee from the ground up,” said Michael Fedele, founder of Throne Sports Coffee. “Most of what’s out there today is just dessert in disguise. We built Throne Sports Coffee for people who expect more from what they put in their body — more function, more intention, and no compromises.”
Kellanova and Wendy’s have partnered to debut a Cheeze-It cracker variety inspired by the foodservice chain’s Baconator burger. The snack combines the cheese taste of Cheez-It with the Applewood smoked bacon flavor of the Baconator, according to the companies.
“Cheez-It fans are known for their passionate love of our signature cheesy flavor, baked with 100% real cheese — and we’re always looking for new ways to surprise them with bold, flavor-packed experiences,” said Cara Tragseiler, senior brand director for Cheez-It. “With Wendy’s, we found the perfect partner to create something completely unexpected — a snack that brings the craveable flavor of the Baconator to the cracker aisle in a way only Cheez-It can.”
Califia Farms has expanded its portfolio of plant-based beverages with a ready-to-drink protein offering: protein vanilla almond latte. The coffee beverage features 10 grams of plant protein, derived from peas, and 5 grams of sugar per serving. The product is available in a multi-serve, 40-oz bottle.
All In Food has rolled out its Madagascar vanilla, honey and almond snack bar in Starbucks stores. The bars feature a nut and seed blend base, with additional ingredients such as semi-sweet chocolate, vegetable fiber (inulin), honey, brown rice syrup, agave syrup, whole grain crisp brown rice, brown rice crisp (whole grain brown rice flour), peanut butter, peanut butter powder, high oleic sunflower oil, molasses and Himalayan pink salt.
Bobo's has unveiled the latest addition to its Stuff’d Bites with Peach Pie Stuff’d Oat Bites. The limited-time product offers peach filling wrapped in Bobo’s whole grain oat crust with a gluten-free, vegan, soy free and certified kosher formulation.
“Summer flavors have always resonated strongly with our customers, and peaches represent everything people love about the season — sweetness, freshness, and pure enjoyment,” said TJ McIntyre, chief executive officer at Bobo’s.
Pepperidge Farm, a subsidiary of The Campbell’s Co., has debuted Awesome Sauce flavored Goldfish. The crackers, available for a limited time, are inspired by the “sweet, smoky and tangy” condiment found at restaurants, according to the company.
Sindoni North America has introduced rolled wafer bites under its Pirucream brand. Pirucream Bites feature a creamy center in a thin-rolled wafer format, with flavors such as chocolate hazelnut, double chocolate and coconut crème.
“Pirucream Bites represent an exciting evolution for our brand,” said Jonathan Sanchez, chief executive officer of Sindoni North America. “We’ve taken our delicious heritage recipe and adapted it for today’s lifestyle, with the same quality of everyday indulgence.”
Tombstone, a Nestle SA subsidiary, has expanded its frozen pizza portfolio with french-fry style pizza crust. The innovation includes varieties like loaded bacon cheddar, with a potato crust that is covered in cheddar cheese and filled with a mix of bacon, pork belly, mozzarella, and various cheddar cheeses, and chili cheese, with a potato crust covered in hamburger chili cheese sauce and topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, red onion, and parsley.
“This new crust is a bold spin on two iconic bar foods — pizza and fries — fueled by what we’re hearing from fans and what’s trending in culture,” said Terry Klein, brand manager for Tombstone.
Mott’s, a Keurig Dr Pepper subsidiary, partnered with General Mills, Inc. to develop Soft Baked Apple Filled Bars. The product features apple puree encased in a whole wheat flour exterior, with flavor varieties like apple, strawberry and blueberry.
Nearly 2,500 companies exhibited at the annual event hosted by the Specialty Food Association.
Product innovations emphasized factors such as convenience.
