Spicy sweets

Masala chai, Turkish coffee and orange fennel are among the globally inspired varieties from ice cream brand Malai in Brooklyn. A lifelong love of aromatic spices such as ginger, nutmeg, cardamom and saffron led founder Pooja Bavishi to reimagine a classic sweet treat with unconventional flavor pairings.

The handcrafted ice cream is churned with very little air, which creates a light, creamy texture. Other flavors are ginger root, salted brown butter pecan, golden turmeric and rose with cinnamon roasted almonds.
