Company debuts slew of new oatmilk products under its Silk, So Delicious Dairy Free and Stok Cold Brew brands.
A new dairy-free dessert debuted in the freezer aisle in February, opening the door for oatmilk to branch beyond beverages.
Danone North America’s new So Delicious Dairy Free Oatmilk Frozen Desserts feature a creamy oatmilk base blended with ingredients, including fruit, caramel and cookie dough. Certified vegan, Non-GMO Project verified and certified gluten-free, the desserts are available in three varieties: Peanut Butter & Raspberry, made with peanut butter and black raspberries; Oatmeal Cookie, featuring oatmeal cookie dough with brown sugar and cinnamon; and Caramel Apple Crumble, which combines apple, cinnamon and brown sugar with a caramel swirl.
In July, So Delicious Dairy Free launched a new line of Oatmilk Yogurt Alternatives made with gluten-free oats along with live and active cultures.
The dairy-free yogurts come in four flavors: triple berry; spiced pear and fig; strawberry rhubarb; and sweet mango. Each flavor is nut-free, soy-free, certified vegan, certified gluten-free and Non-GMO Project verified.
Protein and caffeine collide in Oikos Protein Fuel, a new line of ready-to-drink dairy beverages launched in mid-September by Danone North America.
“This game-changing innovation delivers on-the-go nutrition in a refreshing and delicious format,” Danone said. “Oikos Pro Fuel blurs the lines between a few growing categories, including ready-to-drink coffee beverages and energy drinks, and builds on Oikos Triple Zero's response to many people’s desire for options that are high in protein.”
Made with nonfat milk and active yogurt cultures, each 10-oz bottle of Oikos Protein Fuel packs 25 grams of whey protein and 100 mg of caffeine from coffeeberry extract. The 190-calorie dairy drinks are gluten-free, sweetened with stevia and available in four flavors: vanilla, mixed berry, peach and strawberry banana.
“Oikos Pro Fuel is the first product in a new portfolio, which is focused on high-protein and functional nutrition,” said James Valdes, senior brand manager for Oikos. “Within the new portfolio, we will continue to push boundaries with future innovation that reinvents the yogurt and adjacent categories.”
Danone’s Horizon brand launched Horizon Organic High Protein Milk in January. Each 8-oz serving provides 12 grams of organic protein from organic milk protein concentrate made from complete proteins naturally found in milk, Danone said. The U.S.D.A. certified organic milk is available in three varieties: reduced-fat chocolate, reduced-fat plain and vitamin D.
“We realized that protein is a top priority for people when it comes to milk — yet no organic protein milk option was available,” said Christina Finkel, senior director of marketing for Horizon Organic. “Protein helps to fuel your day and supports healthy muscles, and our newest organic protein milk is meant to help meet that need for dairy drinkers.”
