ATLANTA — Tyson Foods Inc. announced it has invested $34.2 million in a 35,000-square-foot expansion at its poultry processing facility in Camilla, Ga. The expansion created 100 new jobs at the plant, the company said.

Tyson said it hired additional team members after a new “mega line” was added to the facility. The company also was pleased with the decision to extend its long-term partnership with Georgia and Mitchell ounty.

“This project is great news for our plant, our community, and our customers,” said Eddie Chancellor, vice-president of operations at Tyson Foods. “We are committed to the community of Camilla and are pleased to add 100 new jobs with this expansion, while also meeting the growing demand for our products.”

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) worked with its Global Commerce Division in partnership with the Mitchell County Development Authority to finalize the expansion.

“Tyson Foods has been a great partner for the state of Georgia, and I am excited that they are expanding their footprint in Mitchell County,” said Pat Wilson, commissioner of the GDEcD. “I have no doubt that Tyson will see great success as this new expansion begins operations.”
