KANSAS CITY — In a time when trips and vacations are more difficult due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, restaurants are offering ways for customers to travel with their tastebuds with new globally- and regionally-inspired options.

Del Taco is offering a taste of Taiwan with its new Sprite Poppers, made with popping boba that originated in Taiwan. The edible chewy balls feature a thin shell filled with either mango or cherry juice combined with Sprite lemon-lime soda.

Chopt is debuting the Destination Mexico menu, featuring three new dishes based on the country’s recipes and spices: the Mexican Street Corn Caesar Salad, Mexicali Cobb Salad and Barbacoa Brisket Bowl.

New from Wienerschnitzel is the United States of BBQ Dogs menu, featuring three hot dogs inspired by barbecue destinations across the country. The lineup includes the Texas Dog, Carolina Dog and Kansas City Dog.
