NEW YORK — Fresh off the heels of a $40 million Series C funding round, Hungryroot announced a series of leadership changes.

Alex Weinstein has been named chief digital officer at the artificial intelligence-driven personalized grocery service. He joins the company alongside Stephanie Retcho, who was named chief marketing officer.

Mr. Weinstein previously was senior vice president of growth at Grubhub. Before that he led marketing technology and personalization efforts at eBay and spent seven years driving platform and big data initiatives at Microsoft.

Ms. Retcho most recently was CMO of Kayak, where she oversaw the company’s IPO and subsequent acquisition by Booking Holdings. She also held management positions at ad agencies, including TBWA Chiat Day and McCann Erickson.

“2021 has been a pivotal year for Hungryroot as we continue to experience significant growth in both customer acquisition and retention,” said Ben McKean, founder and chief executive officer. “We’re currently hyper-focused on investing in our industry-leading predictive modeling technology, driving continued success through performance marketing and creating a strong competitive advantage that benefits our customers. Alex will be key in helping to drive our AI advancements and digital efforts forward from a performance marketing perspective, while Stephanie will lead the charge in owning our personal grocer messaging and scaling brand marketing.”

Two existing employees were promoted to Hungryroot’s c-suite team in addition to the new hires. Dave Kong, former software engineer, was promoted to chief technology officer. He will be tasked with optimizing the company’s proprietary algorithm based on customer preference, recipe variety and inventory stock.

Luke Vaccaro, former senior vice president of operations and supply chain, was named chief operating officer. He will continue to oversee Hungryroot’s manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing and customer care functions.

“All four of these key executives bring extensive experience and a proven track record of taking fast-growing consumer tech companies to the next level in each of their respective functions,” Mr. McKean said. “We’re thrilled to expand our leadership team and leverage their collective expertise to help propel Hungryroot through its next phase of growth.”
