ATLANTA – Chick-fil-A joins the growing number of quick-service chains to roll out better-for-you items with the addition of three salads, new salad dressing options and an improved chicken wrap.

In Cobb, Asian and Grilled Market varieties, the salads feature such ingredients as romaine lettuce, mixed baby greens, honey Thai almonds, roasted corn, mandarin oranges, strawberries and blueberries. Each salad provides two or more servings of vegetables or fruit and contains between 180 and 430 calories without dressing. The salads will be available starting April 29.

New dressings include zesty apple cider vinaigrette, avocado lime ranch and honey sesame.

“Customer taste preferences are constantly fluctuating, so we have to be intentional about staying ahead of and remaining relevant to those changes,” said David Farmer, vice-president of product strategy and development. “We strive to offer a menu with only premium offerings, so we took a hard look at our current salad line and decided those options were not as relevant to customers as they were just a few short years ago.”

The enhanced Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap contains a full serving of vegetables and grilled chicken on high-fiber flax bread. Made with green leaf lettuce, shredded red cabbage, carrots and Monterey Jack and cheddar cheeses, the wrap has 330 calories and 12 grams of fat.

Additionally, Chick-fil-A is adding calorie counts to its menu boards nationwide. The chain said it’s working to reduce sodium across its menu, including a 40% sodium reduction in its chargrilled chicken filet, 25% less sodium in bread and 10% less sodium in dressings and sauces.
