Food Entrepreneur TRACY, CALIF. — Four winners were chosen at the fifth annual Real California Milk Excelerator Final Pitch Event. The event, created by the California Milk Advisory Board and VentureFuel in 2019, was created to find, fund and accelerate innovation in dairy-based products. The program is aimed at early-stage, high-growth and potential applicants with at least a 50% cow’s milk-based product or working prototype.

This year’s four winners included: Amazing Ice Cream, Arbo’s Cheese Dip, Petit Pot and WonderCow, who will each receive $30,000 in resources and funding to scale their products in California. In addition, the companies will compete for an additional $100,000 in support based on continued performance over a one-year period.

Eight finalists participated in the live pitch event, which was held on Nov. 16, and presented their innovations to judges and a live audience of key stakeholders. The eight finalists were chosen from dozens of entries. Finalists also had access to a group stipend and a network of resources to refine and scale their product and business. Finalists also were able to participate in the California Milk Advisory Board and VentureFuel Mentorship Program where they received counsel from founders, investors, corporate executives, and leaders across design, marketing, sales, manufacturing, distribution, farming and processing industries.

Last year’s winners included dosa by DOSA, Pariva, Tres Lecheria, and Wheyward Spirit. At this year’s event, dosa by DOSA and Wheyward Spirit each gained $100,000 and $25,000 in additional funding after growing their business in California over the past 12 months.
