KANSAS CITY — Food manufacturers are reinvigorating their classic brands with new twists on the traditional.

Two of the Kellogg Co.’s classic cereals are debuting fresh new flavors. New Honey Nut Frosted Flakes are toasted corn flakes flavored with a blend of honey, brown butter notes and a nutty flavor, Kellogg said. The new variety came to be after Kellogg tested more than 50 flavor combinations.

“Honey Nut Frosted Flakes was a tough nut to crack,” said Brant Wheaton, senior brand manager for Frosted Flakes at Kellogg. “We knew our fans would be excited for this flavor, and we are, too. It was such a fun challenge to combine the two well-known flavors of honey nut and Frosted Flakes to make something completely unique.”

Kellogg’s new Strawberry Krispies cereal pairs Rice Krispies puffed rice cereal with a coating of strawberry flavor. The variety marks the brand’s first new flavor in more than 10 years.

“Our fans are explorers who constantly seek new varieties, flavors and possibilities,” said Chris Stolsky, associate director of marketing for Rice Krispies at Kellogg. “We are introducing Strawberry Krispies to give them just that: a new cereal with endless moments of goodness packed in each bite.”

Mars, Inc. is putting a triple chocolate twist on its classic Twix bar. New Twix Triple Chocolate Cookie Bars feature chocolate cookie bars topped with chocolate caramel that are wrapped in milk chocolate.

“Our consumers are seeking chocolate treats that play on texture and crunch,” said Michelle Deignan, brand director for Twix at Mars. “This new flavor takes the classic Twix Cookie Bar our fans know and love and combines it with three times the chocolate to create a new favorite for all chocolate lovers.”

The Kraft Heinz Co. is offering a new take on its traditional Philadelphia cream cheese brand with new Philadelphia Dips. Made with Philadelphia cream cheese and vegetables, the dips are available in three varieties: Jalapeño Cheddar, Southwest Style with Black Bean & Corn, and Buffalo Style with Celery.
