SEATTLE — Jamie Colbourne has been named chairman of the board of directors at Jones Soda Co. He succeeds Michael Fleming.

Mr. Colbourne stepped in as interim chief executive officer at Jones Soda in April 2020, when then-CEO Jennifer Cue decided to step down from the position. He held the position until November, when Mark Murray was elevated to the role.

Prior to joining Jones Soda, Mr. Colbourne was CEO and board member of JGC Foods, a holding company that specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of branded and co-packaged soups, sauces and entrees across North America. Prior to JGC Foods, he was chief operating officer of Charlie’s Produce, the largest independent distributor of produce and food manufacturer in the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and Canada. Earlier, he held various executive positions and served on the board of directors for notable consumer packaged goods brands, including Litehouse Products, Tully’s Coffee, Häagen-Dazs, PepsiCo and 7UP Canada.

Mr. Colbourne recruited Mr. Murray as a consultant and worked closely with him to plan and implement a growth strategy that has increased the company’s revenues and gross margins.

“In the last 10 months, Jones has significantly improved cost and management controls, reengaged consumers through creative marketing programs ranging from themed label collections to an RV campaign with Tony Hawk, and laid the groundwork for expanding into foodservice and club channels,” Mr. Colbourne said. “The results clearly show that the brand has long-term growth potential, especially given the strength of the overall craft soda market. I’ve had a front-row seat to these changes, and I’m confident that we will be able to continue building on Jones’ unique brand assets to keep the company on a solid growth track.”

Mr. Colbourne received a bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Mary’s University and the chartered accounting designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

“Jamie’s CPG expertise, in-depth understanding of the Jones brand, and pivotal role in driving last year’s improvements in the company’s performance make him the ideal person to head the board of directors,” Mr. Fleming said. “The fact that board members Clive Sirkin and Paul Norman both recently purchased one million shares of Jones stock shows how strongly they believe in the ability of Jamie, Mark and the rest of the team to put the brand back on top of the craft soda segment.”
