KANSAS CITY — Restaurants are debuting dessert mashups ahead of the holidays.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is offering a new cinnamon roll pie, featuring cinnamon rolls baked inside a pie crust and drizzled with sweet cream cheese icing.
Pie and frozen custard are combined in seasonal specials at Andy’s Frozen Custard. The chain is serving Pumpkin Pie Concrete and Apple Pie Concrete. Each item contains a slice of fresh-baked pie blended with vanilla frozen custard.
At Pinkberry, a new frozen yogurt is inspired by tiramisu, the espresso-flavored frozen dessert. The company recommends topping the treat with dark chocolate crisps, a dusting of cocoa powder and whipped cream.
“Our guests love the tiramisu frozen yogurt so much that we knew we had to bring it back into stores for the holidays,” said Melissa Hubbell, senior director of marketing for Kahala Brands, parent company of Pinkberry. “The flavor profile is really authentic to the traditional dessert but can be customized with different toppings to make it your own.”
