MUMBAI, INDIA — Colors and ingredient supplier Roha Group has acquired Saraf Foods for an undisclosed sum. Roha’s acquisition of the global ingredient supplier adds two manufacturing facilities in India and more than 500 employees across 15 countries to the company.

The company also builds on its existing modified vacuum drying capabilities, adding freeze drying, air drying and individual quick drying (IQF) technologies from Saraf.

“This acquisition is of immense potential in the history of ROHA’s legacy,” the company said. “Our portfolio in the dehydrated ingredients segment has gained momentum due to the addition of state-of-the-art technology.”

By evaporating moisture through sublimation, the freeze drying technology will allow key ingredients, such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices and sprouts, to retain their original taste, texture, flavors and shapes.

Air drying capabilities cover particular vegetable ingredients, including cabbage and carrots, and some legumes, and IQF adds important storing technology for a wide range of Roha’s ingredient categories.
