Pop-Tarts get nutty

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. — Kellogg’s is expanding its Pop-Tarts portfolio with a pair of peanut butter varieties.

Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts are sprinkled with sugar crystals and contain a creamy peanut butter filling. Chocolate Peanut Butter Pop-Tarts feature a peanut butter filling and a chocolate pastry crust topped with chocolate frosting.

“Peanut butter has long been the most requested flavor by our fans,” said Dick Podiak, director of marketing for Pop-Tarts.

The products are available nationwide.

Baskin-Robbins launches freezer bars

CANTON, MASS. — Baskin-Robbins, a subsidiary of Dunkin’ Brands, is partnering with Jel Sert to launch a line of shelf-stable sherbet-flavored freezer bars in two varieties: orange and raspberry swirl and grape and green apple swirl.

The freezer bars will be available nationwide beginning this spring for a suggested retail price of $2.99 to $3.49 for a 12-count pack.

Frito-Lay launches Cracker Jack’d

PLANO, TEXAS — Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, Inc., is reinventing a ballgame staple with Cracker Jack’d, a line of flavored snack mixes.

Varieties include zesty queso, peanut butter and chocolate, cheddar barbecue, berry yogurt, Buffalo ranch, spicy pizzeria and salted caramel. Products contain coated popcorn clusters, nuts, pretzel pieces and crispy corn sticks.

The snack mixes are available in convenience stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.49.

Butterball turkey snacks debut

MEMPHIS, TENN. — Monogram Food Solutions, L.L.C. is unveiling a line of turkey snacks licensed under the Butterball brand.

Products include apple turkey nuggets, made with pieces of sweet dried apples; turkey bacon jerky with a smoky hickory flavor; teriyaki turkey jerky with a sweet and savory soy sauce flavor; oven-roasted turkey jerky; turkey snack bites and giant smoked turkey snack sticks. The snacks are made with lean turkey and contain no added MSG.

The line will be available nationwide beginning this summer.

Prego introduces Alfredo sauces

CAMDEN, N.J. — The Campbell Soup Co. is expanding its Prego line of pasta sauces with three Alfredo varieties.

Prego Homestyle Alfredo is smooth and creamy with garlic, cream and Parmesan flavors. The savory bacon variety has a bold bacon flavor with hints of cracked black pepper. The artisan three-cheese sauce blends white cheddar, Parmesan and Romano cheeses.

The sauces are available nationwide beginning in May.

Wendy’s unveils Frosty Waffle Cones

DUBLIN, OHIO – The Wendy’s Co. is serving its signature Frosty treat in a new way. Frosty Waffle Cones are available in both vanilla and chocolate flavors.

Wendy’s Frosty, introduced in 1969, has been featured in shakes, parfaits and ice cream floats.

Frosty Waffle Cones are available at all Wendy’s restaurants nationwide for a suggested retail price of $1.49.

Oscar Mayer rolls out bacon hot dogs and more

MADISON, WIS. — Kraft Foods Group, Inc. is expanding its Oscar Mayer line of hot dogs with five new products, including a Bacon Dog made with hardwood-smoked bacon.

Oscar Mayer also is relaunching Smokies smoked sausages, made with coarse ground pork and beef, and adding to its Selects line a chicken breast hot dog, which contains no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors.

Additionally, the company is rebranding its 98% Fat Free Wieners and Light Beef Franks as Extra Lean Franks and Lean Beef Franks, respectively.

The new products will be available nationwide beginning in June.

Jack Link’s unveils Big Dippers

MINONG, WIS. – Jack Link’s is introducing Big Dippers, a portable snack with meat strips and dipping sauce in three varieties.

The All American variety includes beef sticks with cheese sauce. The Barbecue variety has beef steak strips with barbecue sauce. The Buffalo Chicken variety features seasoned Buffalo chicken strip with Buffalo and ranch sauce.

The product line is available nationwide.

Smucker introduces Life is good coffee

ORRVILLE, OHIO – The J.M. Smucker Co. is partnering with Boston-based lifestyle brand Life is good to launch a line of sustainably farmed ground coffee.

Varieties include a light roast, medium roast and dark roast, as well as s’mores and banana bread flavors.

The products will be available nationwide beginning in late summer.

Fruit Shoot Concentrate makes U.S. debut

DUBLIN, IRELAND – Robinsons Fruit Shoot juice drink concentrate, a product of Britvic Worldwide Brands, is debuting in the United States.

The product has no artificial flavors or high-fructose corn syrup and is made with fruit juice. Each 1-liter bottle contains 20 or more servings.

Fruit Shoot Concentrate is available in Alabama retailers. The brand’s ready-to-drink bottled beverages are sold in 30 states.

Nonni’s launches almond thin cookies

OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL. – Nonni’s Foods L.L.C., a biscotti manufacturer, is introducing almond thin cookies in cranberry, pistachio and cinnamon raisin varieties.

With a light and crunchy texture, THINaddictives are baked with whole fruit and nuts and served in 100-calorie portion packs.

Tofurky adds artisan sausages

HOOD RIVER, ORE. – Tofurky is adding 100% vegan artisan sausages in chicken and apple, Andouille and spinach pesto varieties. The organic, soy-based sausages are handcrafted in small batches with vegetables, herbs and whole grains.

Tofurky Artisan Sausages are available in select retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $5.69 per 14-oz package.

Oregon Seafoods introduces soups and sauces

COOS BAY, ORE. – Oregon Seafoods is expanding its Sea Fare Pacific portfolio with albacore curries in red, yellow and green varieties and a trio of soups, including West Coast Ciopinno, Smoked Salmon Chowder and Seafood Bisque. Packaged in shelf-stable pouches, each item is gluten-free and contains sustainable, wild-caught seafood.

LifeIce bite-size frozen treats debut

NEW YORK – LifeIce Inc. is rolling out bite-size freeze-and-eat treats in berry, chocolate, citrus and green varieties.

Made with coconut water and agave, the products have a popsicle-like texture when frozen and are packaged in 24-count shelf-stable trays. Ingredients include green tea extract, cherry, mangosteen, blueberry, ginger, kale and currant.

Homemade Brand adds frozen yogurt

CINCINNATI – Homemade Brand, a subsidiary of United Dairy Farmers, is unveiling a line of frozen yogurt in original, lemon, red raspberry, mango and pomegranate varieties. The product is gluten-free with a tangy flavor.

Emma’s frozen yogurt is available in select retailers in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Indiana.

Sparkling ICE expands lemonades

SEATTLE – Talking Rain is expanding its Sparkling ICE lightly carbonated lemonade line with raspberry, strawberry and tea varieties.

The zero-calorie beverages are sweetened with Splenda and fruit juice.

The line also includes apple, peach nectarine, coconut pineapple, black raspberry, kiwi strawberry, orange mango, pomegranate blueberry, pink grapefruit and lemon lime.
