SEATTLE — The board of directors of Jones Soda Co. has elected David Knight as president and chief executive officer, effective June 23. He will succeed Mark F. Murray, who is set to retire.

Mr. Knight most recently was chief beverage officer at CFH, Ltd., where he helped build a beverage division from the ground up and filled the new product pipeline for continued growth in CBD beverages. Earlier, he was co-founder and CEO of SX Latin Brands Inc., chief revenue officer at PIN Business Network, CEO of REGO Payment Architectures, Inc. and vice president of internal communications and international marketing at eBay Inc.

He also spent many years at PepsiCo, Inc. in a variety of roles, including vice president of international marketing for Gatorade, vice president of functional beverages for Asia Pacific, managing director for Gatorade Australia, and sales and marketing director for Frito-Lay Australia.

He received a bachelor of commerce degree in marketing at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.

“David brings to us over 37 years of global marketing, sales and corporate communications experience with some of the world’s premier food and beverage companies,” said Paul Norman, chairman of the board. “The board feels that his successful track record of growing and managing dynamic and youthful brands makes David the perfect person to lead Jones as the company works to continue to build on the significant progress Mark Murray has made as our CEO over the past few years.”

Mr. Murray has been president and CEO of Jones Soda since late 2020. Over the past nearly three years he has been instrumental in executing the company’s three-year strategic turnaround plan and spearheading the company’s successful entry into the cannabis market, Mr. Norman said. He will remain on the company’s board as a director.
