KANSAS CITY — Limited-edition offerings are filling up menus at foodservice locations across the United States.
Taco Bell launched its grilled cheese dipping taco, the company’s take on birria. The taco features slow-braised shredded beef and a three-cheese blend, served on a grilled white corn tortilla.
“The rich and spicy flavors often found in birria were a major point of inspiration as we created the new grilled cheese dipping taco,” said Liz Matthews, global chief food innovation officer at Taco Bell. “By combining slow-braised shredded beef with the two dipping sauces, our fans can enjoy a new range of flavors they may have never had from Taco Bell before. This Mexican-inspired dish represents an evolution of what fans typically expect from Taco Bell. We're excited to bring this menu item nationwide after an incredibly successful test in 2022.”
Outback Steakhouse introduced a limited-edition “swicy” menu, which features offerings with a sweet heat flavor. The menu includes items like hot honey fried chicken, hot honey fried shrimp and a hot honey margarita.
Cold brew is joining the menu at Wendy’s with the introduction of the Frosty cream cold-brew lineup. The line features cold-brew coffee, mixed with Frosty creamer and a choice between vanilla, chocolate or caramel syrup.
“Wendy's new Frosty cream cold brew packs cold-brew flavor with the one-of-a-kind Frosty creamer our fans know and love,” said John Li, global vice president of culinary innovation for The Wendy's Co. “While the other guys serve bitter iced coffee, we slow steep coffee beans in cold water for 12 hours to create the smoothest, never bitter, refreshing brew. It's exactly what summer coffee drinkers have been craving.”
