KANSAS CITY — The reality television series “Shark Tank” has provided national exposure for numerous brands over the years. While not all pitches result in transactions, the entrepreneurs behind early-stage startups said they have gained meaningful traction following their appearances on the program.
The Food Entrepreneur Experience, a free, online event on Oct. 25, will dive into the diverse perspectives of food and beverage founders who have starred on the show. Attendees will learn about pitching in a high-pressure environment and preparing for national exposure as millions of viewers tune in to each episode.
Speakers include:
Michelle Jimenez-Meggiato, co-founder and chief executive officer of The Pizza Cupcake, a gourmet handheld pizza snack;
Michael Pan, founder of Pan’s, a brand of plant-based jerky formulated with shiitake mushrooms;
Kun Yang, co-founder and CEO of Pricklee, a line of ready-to-drink beverages highlighting the health and hydration benefits of the cactus fruit;
Margaret Nyamumbo, founder and CEO of Kahawa 1893, a nationally distributed coffee business empowering women coffee farmers in Africa; and
Hannah Hong and Mollie Cha, co-founders of Must Love, a brand offering plant-based frozen desserts and frosted animal cookies sweetened with dates.
Additionally, Elle Lanning, managing director of Camino Partners, will discuss the investment landscape and share advice for consumer products entrepreneurs seeking to raise capital.
The 75-minute program is hosted by Monica Watrous, managing editor of Food Business News and Food Entrepreneur. A recording will be available to view on demand following the live presentation.
