PETALUMA, CALIF. — Straus Family Creamery has added low-fat kefirs to its portfolio of premium organic dairy products.

The yogurt-like beverage is produced through the slow fermentation of whole and nonfat milks, which is then blended and vat-set with live and active cultures. Straus’ kefirs offer a tangy flavor profile and creamy texture that can be combined with granola for a convenient snack, used as an ingredient for marinades and as a buttermilk alternative, or consumed as a standalone drink. Flavor varieties include plain and blueberry.

“We always intended to have a great-tasting kefir that meets our sustainability and flavor goals,” said Albert Straus, founder of Straus Family Creamery. “Developing new organic dairy options for our customers allows us to further support our mission of sustaining family farms and the communities that depend on them.”

Straus Family Creamery Organic Lowfat Kefir will be rolling out into select Whole Foods Markets and regional natural grocers in late January, along with Sprouts Farms Markets beginning in February.

In addition to kefirs, Straus markets organic milks, creamers, European-style yogurts and butters, Greek yogurts, sour creams and ice creams.
