DUBLIN, OHIO — The Wendy’s Co. has promoted Matt Spessard from senior vice president, global chief technology officer to chief information officer. Spessard succeeds Kevin Vasconi, who has been in the position since October 2020.
Spessard was senior vice president, global chief technology officer for Wendy’s since August 2022.
As CIO, Spessard will oversee all aspects of Wendy’s global technology efforts, the company said.
Spessard joined Wendy’s in May 2020 as vice president, restaurant technology. He later assumed the expanded role of vice president, digital and restaurant technology in September 2020.
Before his time with Wendy’s, Spessard was with Inspire Brands for six years and previously was vice president, head of technology for Sonic. He also has held leadership positions at Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores, Reciprocity Restaurant Group and Yum! Brands.
