BENTONVILLE, ARK. — Walmart Inc. plans to build its third milk processing plant in Robinson, Texas. The plant is scheduled to open in 2026.

Walmart opened its first milk processing plant in 2018, in Fort Wayne, Ind., and previously announced a $350 million facility in Valdosta, Ga., which is scheduled to open in 2025.

Just like the other sites, the $350 million Texas facility will be owned and operated by Walmart.

“We’re excited to be able to provide Texas and its surrounding states with high-quality milk sourced primarily from Texas dairy farmers,” said Bruce Heckman, vice president of manufacturing at Walmart. “This new facility continues our commitment to building a more resilient and transparent supply chain and ensuring our customers’ needs are met for this everyday staple.”

Building its own milk processing plants gives the retailer better visibility into the sources of its products and strengthens its supply chain, according to Walmart.

Products processed at the Texas facility will be distributed to 750-plus Walmart and Sam’s Club locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and parts of Arkansas and Mississippi. The plant will process gallon, half gallon, whole, 2%, 1%, skim and 1% chocolate milk products that will be sold under Walmart’s Great Value brand and Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark brand.
