Cereal flavors branch beyond breakfast
New products tout the tastes of popular cereals.
Lucky Charms and Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream
Nestle and General Mills have partnered to develop two new cream varieties based on General Mills’ cereal. Set to roll out in the coming months, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Light Ice Cream will feature a cinnamon ice cream base with crunchy cereal pieces and cinnamon swirls, while the Lucky Charms Frozen Dairy Dessert will include a vanilla base, cereal swirl and Lucky Charms marshmallows churned into the ice cream. The products will be available in both 14-oz and 48-oz containers.
Coffee Mate Cinnamon Toast Crunch creamer
Nestle joined forces with General Mills to create Coffee Mate Cinnamon Toast Crunch creamer. The creamer combines cinnamon, brown sugar and hints of toasted cereal flavors. Launched in January, the creamer contains 35 calories and 5 grams of sugar per tablespoon serving and is sold in 32-oz bottles for a suggested retail price of $3.99 at retailers nationwide.
Lucky Charms cookie dough
In January, General Mills introduced Pillsbury ready-to-bake Lucky Charms cookie dough. The cookie dough comes pre-sliced in 12 big cookies that feature marshmallow bits in the shapes and colors of the hearts, horseshoes, clovers, blue moons and rainbows included in the brand’s ready-to-eat cereal. The 14-oz packages are available at select retailers at a suggested retail price of $2.50.
Frosted Froot Loops Pop-Tarts
Kellogg Co. in January debuted Frosted Froot Loops Pop-Tarts, featuring a fruity filling inspired by the taste of Froot Loops cereal. Each pastry is coated with frosting printed with colorful Froot Loops themed designs. Each two-pastry serving contains 370 calories, 30 grams of sugar and 4 grams of protein.
Trix and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Yoplait Smoothies
In December 2019, General Mills brought two of its cereal varieties to the yogurt aisle with Trix and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Yoplait Smoothies. Available in 7-oz bottles, the smoothies contain 160 calories, 5 grams of protein and 22 grams of sugar.
Golden Grahams S’mores Bites
In September 2019, General Mills debuted Golden Grahams S’mores Bites in the frozen aisle. The soft donut bites feature a cinnamon graham flavor and are stuffed with a marshmallow and chocolate filling. The sweet snacks contain 190 calories per four-bite serving.
Lucky Charms Soft Baked Treats
In May 2019, General Mills debuted Lucky Charms Soft Baked Treats. The marshmallow blondies feature Lucky Charms cereal marshmallows baked in and are topped with a drizzle of white icing. Each treat contains 90 calories and 9 grams of sugar.
Creepy Cocoa Crisp M&M’s
Mars, Inc. in July 2019 announced a new cereal-inspired M&M’s variety for Halloween: Creepy Cocoa Crisp M&M’s. The candies feature a cocoa crisp center enrobed in a layer of dark chocolate. Available in 8-oz bags, each 30-piece serving contains 140 calories and 16 grams of sugar.
Jet-Puffed Lucky Charms Marshmallows
In August 2019, Kraft Heinz Co. launched Kraft Jet-Puffed Lucky Charms Marshmallows. Mimicking the cereal’s iconic shapes — blue moons, green clovers, pink hearts and yellow stars — the marshmallows come in 7-oz bags and contain 100 calories and 17 grams of sugar per 7-piece serving.
Target Market Pantry Cereal Bowl ice cream
Target Corp. in October 2019 unveiled Cereal Bowl Ice Cream under its Market Pantry brand. The cinnamon toast flavored ice cream contains cinnamon sugar shortbread pieces and a sweet frosting swirl. Each 2/3-cup serving contains 190 calories, 2 grams of protein and 20 grams of sugar.
