Dozens of new natural and organic products debuted at Natural Products Expo West Virtual Week, which ran May 24-27.
Jack & Annie’s Apple Jack Sausages are made from jackfruit, soy flour and coconut oil, are studded with bites of dehydrated apple and are seasoned with cherry, garlic, onion, brown sugar and spices. Colored with fruit and vegetable juice, the plant-based sausages feature a veggie casing made of alginate, guar gum and konjac gum. The links are non-GMO, gluten-free and vegan and contain 140 calories, 5 grams of protein and 9 grams of fat each.
Yishi is launching a line of single-serve, plant-based oatmeal cups in Asian-inspired flavors. The oatmeal is made with a base of gluten-free oats, flax seeds, hemp seeds and almonds and is USDA certified organic and gluten-free. Yishi oatmeal contains no added sugars and is sweetened with erythritol and stevia.
The taro bubble tea oatmeal is formulated with taro, chia seeds, coconut milk, blueberries and black tea. Designed to enhance focus, each cup contains 200 calories, 5 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber and 47 mg of caffeine.
The toasted black sesame oatmeal is made with ground black sesame seeds, black bean powder, chopped walnuts and chia seeds. Designed to boost energy, each cup contains 220 calories, 8 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per cup.
The matcha latte oatmeal features coconut milk and matcha green tea. Designed to increase vitality, each cup contains 200 calories, 5 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber and 11 to 17 mg of caffeine.
The red bean berry oatmeal is made with adzuki beans, jujube dates, beet root, goji berries and cherries. Designed to promote radiance, each cup contains 190 calories, 6 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber.
The sweet Osmanthus oatmeal blends soybeans, Osmanthus and turmeric. Designed to encourage calm, each cup contains 190 calories, 7 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber.
Good Karma Foods is launching Plantmilk, a new plant-based milk alternative made with a blend of flax, oat and peas. The beverage features the creaminess of 2% milk and 5 times the protein as almond milk, according to the company, along with 800 mg of omega-3 fatty acids. Good Karma Plantmilk comes in original, vanilla and chocolate varieties.
“We believe in foods and beverages that are nutritious and delicious and let plants shine,” said Doug Radi, chief executive officer of Good Karma Foods. “By blending the best of oats, peas and flax in our Plantmilk, we’ve introduced an alternative to alternative milks that’s creamier, delicious and nutritious. Put simply, it’s the cream of the crops.”
Julian’s Recipe is offering a better-for-you take on a breakfast staple with its new Cauli-Wafels. Made with cauliflower, cage-free eggs, tigernut flour, coconut flour, tapioca starch and fava bean protein. Available in original and maple brown butter varieties, the grain- and gluten-free waffles contain 170 calories and 5 grams of protein per two-waffle serving.
