Regional citrus fuses the familiar with the adventurous in new products and menu items.
Abby’s Better in June introduced a limited-edition summer nut butter, Key Lime Cashew. The Key Lime Cashew butter is made from dry roasted cashews, unsweetened dried coconut, coconut oil and key lime extract. Each two-tablespoon serving contains 170 calories, 14 grams of fat, 4 grams of protein and no added sugars.
“Abby’s Better has always been about providing unique nut butter flavors that don't sacrifice taste for health nor the purity of the product,” said Abby Kircher, founder and chief executive officer of Abby’s Better. “The inspiration behind the seasonal Key Lime Cashew comes from my family’s love of vacationing down in the Florida Keys.”
In May, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts introduced its Island Time Collection of tropical flavored donuts, including the Key Lime Pie Doughnut. Filled with Key lime Kreme, the donut is dipped in lime green icing and topped with graham crumbs and a Kreme dollop.
“People have been dreaming about returning to summer vacations,” said Dave Skena, chief marketing officer at Krispy Kreme. “Our new Island Time donuts will give everyone a sweet taste of the tropics.”
