Flavor fusions are at the forefront of new product development.
Bolthouse Farms is releasing a collection of beverages and wellness shots promoting immune health. New smoothies and juice blends include Green Immunity Boost, which has pineapple, cucumber, apple, ginger and kale; and Superfood Immunity Boost, with elderberries, cranberries and echinacea. New wellness shots include Bolts Immunity, which incorporates orange juice, acerola cherries and turmeric; and Bolts Immunity Elderberry, made with elderberry juice and ginger juice.
“The past few years have proven the importance of small, daily tasks to help promote and maintain a healthy immune system,” said Amy Shoemaker, director of marketing, Bolthouse Farms Brands. “The new immunity boosting beverages reaffirm our century-long commitment to creating delicious products that are good for you and helping to create a daily ritual to support immune health that is easy and uncomplicated.”
A maker of freeze-dried snacks, Crispy Green has debuted Piña Picante, featuring air-dried pineapple and unique seasoning blends. The first offering is chili lime, infused with cayenne peppers, lime and sea salt. A ginger lime flavor is set to debut within the next few months.
“Growing up in southern China, I was taught to dip pineapple in salt water before eating it, which would help to reduce the stinging sensation it has on the tongue, also makes the pineapple feel sweeter,” said Angela Liu, founder and chief executive officer. “The sweet and sour taste of pineapple blends very well with savory flavors. I wanted to create a dried fruit product that is fun to eat and offers balanced flavor that permeates throughout each bite for a consistent snacking experience."
Gathered Foods, the maker of Good Catch plant-based seafood alternatives, is launching salmon-style burgers formulated with the brand’s signature blend of peas, beans, chickpeas and lentils. The product has a “delicate, mild-yet-rich flavor” with a touch of citrus, according to the company. Each burger delivers 16 grams of plant protein.
“Culinary innovation is at the forefront of everything we create at Good Catch, and this new salmon will be an absolute gamechanger in the market that boasts incredible flavor and texture,” said Chad Sarno, co-founder and chief culinary officer at Gathered Foods, makers of Good Catch. “We are excited to see consumer response to our Plant-Based Salmon Burgers, which provides a convenient meal solution without the harm.”
Mars Wrigley, a division of Mars, Inc., is launching a larger version of its popular Dove Promises filled chocolates. Dove Large Promises are three times the size of the individually wrapped confections and packaged in three-count packs. The two flavor variations are milk chocolate with a caramel filling and dark chocolate with a peanut butter filling.
“We were intentional with our newest innovation, as we know fans crave premium, indulgent treats to share and eat on the go,” said Leslie Philipsen, brand director of Dove Chocolate. “Offering our dark chocolate and peanut butter as well as our milk chocolate and caramel flavor variations in a new format will create better moments and more smiles by complementing Dove fans' busy lifestyles, allowing them to pause and enjoy a moment of pleasure.”
New seasonings launching from McCormick & Co. include a warming spice blend, combining cinnamon, turmeric and cumin; and a six-taste seasoning with coriander seed, sea salt, cumin, turmeric, ginger and lemon peel. The two products are part of McCormick’s Flavor Inspirations line, made in small batches and available for a limited time. Additionally, each seasoning takes inspiration from Ayurvedic practices, using nutritious foods, herbs and spices to achieve mind-body balance.
Outer Aisle, a brand of vegetable-based bread alternatives, has introduced broccoli sandwich thins made with broccoli, eggs, Parmesan cheese and nutritional yeast. The grain-free sandwich thins contain a full serving of broccoli and 7 grams of protein with 1 gram of net carbohydrates per serving.

New from Mtn Dew is Mtn Dew Spark Zero Sugar. The carbonated soft drink has a raspberry lemonade flavor and builds off the success of Mtn Dew Spark, which was introduced a year ago in limited quantities at convenience stores. Both beverages are available online and at retailers nationwide.
Red Clay Hot Sauce has unveiled its newest condiment, spicy peach conserve. Developed by co-founder and chef Geoff Rhyne, the product combines peaches and habanero peppers, apple cider vinegar, salt and sugar, and it may be used in both sweet and savory dishes, such as biscuits, waffles, pork chops or stir fries, according to the company.
“As our favorite ‘swicy’ (or sweet meets spicy) food trend continues to gain more and more fans, our mission at Red Clay remains the same: take classic, Southern flavor profiles and elevate them with Geoff’s chef-driven, spicy edge for everyone’s home kitchen,” said Molly Fienning, co-founder and chief executive officer. “This Spicy Peach Conserve is a strong example of calling on Geoff’s roots to create something innovative and delicious for the pantry.”
Turkey Hill
Ice cream maker Turkey Hill has launched a limited-edition mystery flavor. Consumers may submit guesses on the brand’s website for a chance to win free ice cream. The answer will be revealed in March.
“Surprising our fans with a delicious, but mysterious new flavor is what the Mystery Flavor is all about,” said Kriston Ohm, vice president of marketing. “We like to have fun at Turkey Hill, and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring the unexpected to the freezer aisle. Our new Mystery Flavor is sure to sneak some mystery and intrigue into homes across the nation — we can’t wait for you to try it.”
Goodman Gluten Free, a gluten-free baked foods company, is launching grab-and-go, grain-free fudgy brownies, featuring a chocolate shell and chewy fudge brownie cake center.
