New sandwiches are piled with steak, spicy flavors, or a combination of the two.
Quiznos is launching a kimchi Philly sandwich, its new take on a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The sandwich is topped with spicy Korean gochujang sauce, kimchi, white American cheese and sauteed green peppers and onions.
Wendy’s is adding ghost pepper-flavored items with the introduction of the ghost pepper ranch chicken sandwich and ghost pepper fries.
The ghost pepper ranch chicken sandwich features Wendy’s spicy chicken ghost pepper-infused American cheese, ghost pepper-seasoned crispy onions, lettuce, tomato and a ghost pepper ranch sauce. The ghost pepper fries feature a spicy fry sauce. The company also is bringing back its strawberry Frosty for the summer.
Subway updated its Subway Series menu since it debuted in July 2022. The sandwich chain is refreshing four of its sandwiches on the series menu, including the sweet onion teriyaki, the ultimate B.M.T., the elite chicken and bacon ranch and the hotshot Italiano. Qdoba is bringing back its seasonal mango salsa for the first time in four years. The salsa features mangos, tomatoes, red onions, jalapeños, lime juice and cilantro.
“We love and are always listening to our passionate fans; we heard them clamoring for the tropical flavors of our mango salsa and so we brought it back,” said Karin Silk, chief marketing officer at Qdoba. “We are constantly searching for new ways to excite our guests and keep them coming back for more.”
Papa Johns is partnering with PepsiCo, Inc.’s Doritos brand to debut the Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia. The Cool Ranch Papadia is an Italian flatbread-style sandwich that features toppings and a dusting of the Cool Ranch Doritos seasoning.
“At Papa Johns, flavor exploration puts us at the forefront of our menu innovation, which is why we couldn’t be more excited to bring together our Better Ingredients. Better Pizza promise with the iconic flavor of Doritos Cool Ranch to create this limited-time Papadia,” said Kimberly Bean, vice president of menu strategy and calendar planning. “Our partnership with PepsiCo Foodservice allowed us to leverage the bold taste of Doritos Cool Ranch to reimagine a specialty seasoning for the Papadia, which offers new and current consumers the ultimate chip and sandwich experience and gives them a bold taste in every bite, so delicious you’ll wish you had thought of it first.”
Pizza Hut is introducing cheesesteak to its menus as both a pizza and a handheld melt. The cheesesteak pizza features sirloin steak strips, alfredo sauce, green bell peppers and onion, and is topped with Parmesan oregano. The melt version also features sirloin steak strips, melted cheese and savory toppings, which are baked into a crust and topped with butter and Parmesan oregano seasoning.

Late night cookie brand Insomnia Cookies debuted a banana crepe filled deluxe cookie in collaboration with snack startup tbh, which was co-founded by Netflix’s “Stranger Things” actor Noah Schnapp.
The cookie is formulated with banana-flavored deluxe dough, mixed with chocolate chunks and filled with tbh’s hazelnut cocoa spread.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with tbh to deliver our latest warm, delicious creation to Insomniacs,” said Seth Berkowitz, founder and chief executive officer of Insomnia Cookies. “Our two brands have a lot in common, both started by University of Pennsylvania students, and prove that when you use your imagination and push boundaries, great products are born.”
Dunkin’ is adding a seasonal menu for warmer weather that features several new food and drink options. The beverages include a raspberry watermelon refresher, a turtle signature latte, and a butter pecan crunch frozen coffee. New menu items are a ham-and-cheese stuffed croissant, an iced lemon loaf and a butter pecan donut.
“There’s nothing quite like a cold drink from Dunkin,” said Jill McVicar Nelson, chief marketing officer at Dunkin’. “Our latest offerings, like the anticipated butter pecan iced coffee or the raspberry watermelon Dunkin’ refresher — a new flavor in one of our fastest-growing beverage categories — are perfect for those who need that extra boost to keep crushing their day.”
Sandwich chain Jimmy John’s is adding a fudge chocolate brownie to its dessert lineup as a permanent offering. The brownie is formulated with semi-sweet chocolate, cocoa and melted chocolate.
“Our new fudge chocolate brownies are not your average sandwich-shop dessert,” said Dustin Hilinski, director of culinary innovation at Jimmy John’s. “Each fudgy bite melts in your mouth, is loaded with chocolatey goodness and stands up to any homemade brownie.”
The 2023 show saw indulgent treats expand in snacking occasions.
