Spring menus are looking sweet.
In celebration of the upcoming total North American solar eclipse, Sonic Drive-In is launching a blackout slush float, which features a cotton candy and dragon fruit-flavored all-black slush, topped with white soft serve and blue and purple galaxy-themed sprinkles.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers added a limited-edition dessert to its menus, the Twix salted caramel concrete. The new concrete features vanilla frozen concrete blended with chopped Twix Cookie bars, crushed pretzels and a caramel sauce.
Wendy’s is adding a spring-inspired orange dreamsicle Frosty to its lineup. The Frosty features notes of a sweet orange flavor combined with a vanilla flavor.
Taco Bell, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., introduced its cantina chicken menu, which features five new items. Included on the menu are: the cantina chicken soft taco, crispy taco, burrito, quesadilla and bowl. The cantina chicken debuts chicken that has been slow-roasted with Mexican spices, garlic, onions and a variety of chilies.
“This cantina chicken menu has been a labor of love and we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure we landed on the best slow-roasted chicken recipe and selected the finest supporting ingredients to maximize craveability,” said Liz Matthews, global chief food innovation officer at Taco Bell. “As we constantly listen to our audiences, we know that a winning equation is giving them what we know they want plus something next level. We knew our fans wanted more chicken, and we also knew that we could elevate chicken with unexpected ingredients like purple cabbage and avocado verde salsa.”
Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing back its chicken al pastor protein option, which features flavors like adobo, Morita peppers, ground achiote, pineapple, lime and cilantro.
“About one in five transactions included chicken al pastor when it was featured on our menu last year,” said Chris Brandt, chief brand officer. “Given the performance and the fans wanting its return so enthusiastically, we are thrilled to make this the fastest item to ever come back to Chipotle.”
Krispy Kreme is introducing a Spring Minis collection, which features four new miniature donuts.

Little Caesars launched Crazy Puffs, bite-size pizza pockets. The new product features melted mozzarella cheese, optional pepperoni and sauce, all wrapped in a flaky crust.

Popeyes launched honey lemon pepper wings, which are available through the Popeyes app or through the company’s website unit the end of March. The wings feature a tangy lemon flavor, mixed with a “a bit of peppery heat from black pepper,” with a hint of sweetness from honey.

Smashburger is expanding its portfolio with a limited-edition mango habanero crispy chicken sandwich. The sandwich features a crispy chicken breast, coated in a sweet-and-spicy tropical-inspired sauce.
