NAMPA, IDAHO — Great American Snacks, Inc., a subsidiary of McCain Foods USA, Inc., said it will close its manufacturing plant in Monroe, N.C., by the end of September. The company cited “the age of the building and challenging infrastructure” for the closing.

Great American Snacks makes specialty appetizers at the plant.

“It is never an easy decision to close a plant, especially when it means job losses,” said Jeff DeLapp, president, North America, McCain Foods Ltd. “It is our priority to ensure that all of our employees are treated fairly and respectfully. We will be offering severance packages, as well as outplacement assistance to all those impacted.”

McCain Foods said it will transfer production of products made at the Monroe plant to other locations in the Great American Snacks supply network, including the company’s facility in Nampa. The Monroe facility employed 84.

McCain Foods formed Great American Snacks, Inc. in 2016 following the acquisition of Nampa-based Great American Appetizers.
