AVERY ISLAND, LA.— Harold G. Osborn, a fifth-generation member of the the McIlhenny family, has been named president and chief executive officer of McIlhenny Co. He succeeds Anthony Simmons, who retired as president and c.e.o. earlier this month after 19 years with the company, which makes Tabasco sauce and Tabasco brand products. Mr. Simmons will continue as a member of the company’s board of directors.

The eighth family member to serve as president and c.e.o., Mr. Osborn has been with the company for more than 20 years, serving in various management positions,  including operations, agriculture, land management, sustainability and new product development. He led the company’s international sales and marketing team for the past six years, during which he expanded distribution to 195 countries and territories. He is responsible for implementing new marketing strategies supported by the company’s first-ever global campaign.

McIlhenny said Mr. Osborn brings unique expertise to the position, having spent his summers throughout his formative years and into college working on Avery Island for the company and the Avery Island Salt Mine.

He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Oxford.

“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead this great company alongside the McIlhenny family,” Mr. Osborn said. “It’s an exciting time for the Tabasco brand as people around the world are searching for new and bold foods and flavors more than ever before. I’m energized by all of the growth opportunities that lie ahead of us.”
