SCHAUMBURG, ILL. — Comet Bio has launched an arabinoxylan plant fiber extract. The gluten-free prebiotic dietary fiber, when used at a level of three grams per serving, promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut and helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels, according to the company. The fully soluble extract has been shown to work in foods, beverages and supplements.

Arabinoxylan is found in the cell walls of many plants. Comet Bio creates the fiber extract through a proprietary process that uses upcycled farm leftovers such as leaves, stalks and shells as feedstock.

“Due to our upcycling approach, we are able to produce arabinoxylan plant fiber extract in a fully soluble powder that can be used in myriad products,” said Richard Troyer, chief executive officer of Comet Bio. “It works great in the development of protein powders for the nutraceutical world or as a fiber boost for nutrition bars, baked goods and drinks.”
