WASHINGTON — Butter, cheese, fruit, vegetable, poultry and red meat stocks on April 30, 2013, were higher than year-earlier levels, but egg stocks were lower, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in its latest Cold Storage report.

Frozen turkey stocks totaled 458,731,000 lbs, up 14% from March and up 5% from April 2012, the U.S.D.A. said. Total chicken stocks were 668,796,000 lbs, up 8% from March and up 11% from April 2012. Total frozen poultry stocks were 1,129,838,000 lbs, up 11% from March and up 8% from April 2012.

Natural cheese stocks on April 30 were 1,120,241,000 lbs, up 1% from March and up 4% from April 2012. Butter stocks totaled 310,660,000 lbs, up 22% from both March 2013 and April 2012.

Frozen red meat supplies totaled 1,235,978,000 lbs, up 5% from March and up 3% from April 2012. Frozen pork stocks were 698,816,000 lbs, a record high, and up 8% from March and up 6% from April 2012. Beef stocks in freezers totaled 510,010,000 lbs, down slightly from 511,233,000 lbs in March and down 2% from April 2012.

Total frozen egg stocks on April 30 were 27,046,000 lbs, down slightly from 27,138,000 lbs in March and down 17% from April 2012. Stocks of egg whites were 3,066,000 lbs, down 9% from March and down 10% from April 2012. Frozen egg yolk stocks were 2,319,000 lbs, down 4% from March and down 13% from April 2012. Whole and mixed egg stocks were 6,316,000 lbs, up 1% from March but down 35% from April 2012. Unclassified egg stocks were 15,345,000 lbs, up 2% from March but down 9% from April 2012.

Stocks of frozen orange juice concentrate were 1,021,170,000 lbs, up 8% from March and up 1% from April 2012. Stocks of all types of frozen fruit on April 30 were 977,631,000 lbs, up 5% from March and up 20% from April 2012.

Stocks of frozen french fries were 977,076,000 lbs, down 2% from March but up 7% from April 2012. Total vegetable stocks (excluding potatoes) on April 30 were 1,743,546,000 lbs, down 7% from March but up 6% from April 2012.
