KANSAS CITY — While summer will be here for a while longer, fall flavors already are making their return, as foodservice locations add autumn-inspired products to menus.

Krispy Kreme, Inc. launched its fall-flavored donut collection this week, which features two returning offerings and two new options.

Making its return to the Krispy Kreme menus is the pumpkin spice Original Glazed donut and pumpkin spice cake donut, and making its debut is the pumpkin spice cheesecake swirl donut topped with cinnamon sugar, pumpkin buttercream icing and cream cheese icing; and the pumpkin spice maple pecan donut with maple icing and candied pecan pieces.

“Year after year, we fall in love all over again with pumpkin spice-flavored treats, and this year pumpkin spice lovers will fall the hardest at Krispy Kreme,” said Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme.

Frozen yogurt brand SweetFrog also is launching its fall-flavored menu with its seasonal pumpkin bread batter. The flavor features a blend of pumpkin and cake batter frozen yogurts that has been blended with ground cinnamon.

“We are excited to introduce our new seasonal frozen yogurt, pumpkin bread batter,” said Heather Marini, senior national marketing manager for Kahala Brands, parent company of SweetFrog. “The flavors of fall shine in this cool, yet comforting, treat and offer our guests a fun and festive way to kick off the season.”

7-Eleven also launched its seasonal fall menu, which features pumpkin-inspired drink options. Coming to participating 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes locations is the pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin coffee and pumpkin syrup.

“We know our customers wait all year long for their favorite fall flavors … so we decided to break out the pumpkin a little bit early this year,” said Dennis Phelps, senior vice president, merchandising (vault and proprietary beverages). “It may not quite feel like fall outside yet, but it sure can taste like fall as we enjoy the first pumpkin spice latte of the season.”
