NEW YORK — Mmmly, a plant-based cookie startup that focuses on better-for-you snacking, has opened a crowdfunding round on Wefunder to help add new classic flavors, debut its first nut-free flavor, and grow in retail.
Mmmly was found in 2020 by Nicholas Naclerio, a former pastry chef, to offer consumers a better-for-you cookie brand. The cookies are formulated from tigernut flour, root vegetables, prebiotic fiber, fruits, and healthy fats. Current cookie flavors include dark chocolate chip, banana chocolate chip, peanut butter, and simply almond.
Over the past year, the company launched into foodservice distribution with Odeko and launched its peanut butter flavor. The company said it is planning to grow its foodservice distribution into corporate offices, colleges and universities.
“Offering beloved American flavors and our first-ever nut-free products will mark a significant milestone in our journey toward healthy indulgence for all,” said Nicolas Naclerio, chief executive officer of Mmmly. “Our recipes don’t use animal products or gluten, and we’ve been able to create new recipes that maintain the luscious cookie texture and indulgence without the need for nuts. Mmmly appeals to a wider audience by offering dietary friendly treats without compromise, and we’re excited to expand this to include top 9 allergen friendly options. Not only does this cookie win over everyone from average joe to cookie connoisseur, but it also allows us to expand into new territories, like schools.”
Mmmly is found in retailers like Whole Foods Market among others.
