SAN DIEGO — Suja Life, a portfolio company of Paine Schwartz Partners, has named Maria Stipp as its new chief executive officer. Stipp succeeds Bob DeBorde, who is retiring from his post.
Prior to becoming CEO for Suja Life, Stipp was most recently CEO for Sapporo-Stone Brewing Co., and previously CEO of Lagunitas Brewing Co.
“Since we initiated our partnership with Suja Life, its momentum has been nothing short of impressive,” said Kevin Schwartz, CEO of Paine Schwartz Partners. “We are grateful for Bob’s contributions to the company’s development. As we set our sights on strategic and sustainable growth, Maria brings a level of innovation and expertise that will unlock new opportunities for Suja Life. We have believed in Suja Life’s brand mission since the beginning, and we are excited to tap into Maria’s prior experience to unlock fresh audiences and continue our commitment to delivering functional, nutritious products.”
DeBorde joined the company as CEO in 2019. DeBorde still will be involved with the company and remain a member as chair on the company’s board of directors.
Suja Life owns such brands as Suja Organic and Vive Organic. Its plant-based offerings are certified organic, Non-GMO Project verified, and cold pressured using high pressure processing to kill any harmful bacteria and preserve nutrition and taste, according to the company.
In July 2019, Paine Schwartz Partners acquired the beverage manufacturer from Goldman Sachs Asset Management and co-investors.
