ANAHEIM, CALIF. — Exhibitors at the Natural Products Expo West trade show, which took place March 12-16, introduced a number of product innovations, including new applications for plant-based foods.

Vancouver, BC-based Konscious Foods, which raised $26 million in seed funding to expand its retail and foodservice businesses in August 2023, launched a range of plant-based seafood products, including smoked salmon, a kimbap Korean veggie rice roll and a salmon rice roll.

“We know the barriers to entry for plant-based food are taste, texture, price and convenience,” said Yves Potvin, president and founder of Konscious Foods. “Our ongoing mission at Konscious Foods is to make eating our foods an easy choice, whether someone is vegan, plant-curious or just interested in trying something new. We believe the future of food is better-for-you, better-for-the-world options."

Nasoya, a brand from tofu company Pulmuone, released a line of plant-based, Asian-inspired offerings. New offerings from Nasoya include a line of vegan dressings, which are available in garlic sesame and zesty gochujang flavors, and a new plant-based chicken. The company also introduced pre-seasoned and pre-fried braised tofu and a plant-based soymilk noodle concept.

“Pulmuone is thrilled to introduce a wide variety of new noodle and tofu offerings,” said Suk Won Kim, vice president of marketing at Pulmuone. “We're proud to help shape a greener future with new plant-based options that don't sacrifice taste, convenience or flavor.”
