NEW YORK — The Italian coffee brand Caffè Borbone is officially making its US debut.
Founded in 1997, Caffè Borbone markets a line of K-Cup and Nespresso compatible coffee pods, whole beans, ground coffee and instant drink mixes. The launch centers on the company’s newly developed compostable K-Cup pods, which are designed to be disposed alongside food or organic waste to become soil fertilizer.
Compostable pod varieties at launch include Positano, with bold and rich flavor notes; Ravello, a fruity and floral offering; Amalfi, which features a smooth and aromatic flavor profile; and Ischia, a half-caffeinated blend. The K-Cups are now available through the company’s website in 12-count packages for $8.18.
Caffè Borbone’s packaging innovation marks the most recent entry in the sustainable, single-serve coffee pod segment, following homebrewing brand Bruvi.
