FRANKLINTON, NC. — Novonesis has produced a probiotic designed to target the gut-brain axis called MindAble 1714.

The company’s Bifidobacterium longum 1714 probiotic strain may support the body’s ability to manage everyday stress more effectively, according to Novonesis.

The MindAble probiotic may be used in such applications as chocolate bars, snack bars, frozen desserts, cereals, or other food formats that contain hard chocolate or compounds.

While MindAble targets the gut-brain axis, with regular consumption it also may reduce the level of cortisol in the saliva after exposed to acute stress, according to the company. The company’s B. Longum 1714 probiotic strain may help adults enhance mental wellness and improve sleep quality.

Novonesis introduced its probiotic at Natural Products Expo West from March 14-16 in Anaheim, Calif., at booth 3387.

“We’re excited to bring this product to market and showcase it at Expo West,” said Steve Quinn, industry manager at Novonesis. “Novonesis’ functional food biosolutions aim to help consumers who are taking a proactive approach to supporting their overall well-being through their food.
